  • I'm cool with Lambert.  Yea, he's not that good of a pitcher, but he's a long-time farmhand and it's good that he gets  some ML pay during this lost season. Probably not the guy for extra innings th

Interesting scenario this weekend for Sox fans.

If the Sox beat the Brewers that could help the Cubs.

Since the Sox aren't going anywhere, for me, let them lose at least two, then turn around and beat the Cubs at least one.

Two White Sox in the lineup have over 31 RBIs this late in the season (plus Robert resting and Burger in Miami). Grandal & Benintendi (31) on pace for 40.

https://www.mlb.com/gameday/brewers-vs-white-sox/2023/08/11/717036/preview

The Sox are on pace to score 618 runs.

Excluding dead ball era seasons (1900-1920) plus lockout/strike years (1981 & 2020), there have only been eight Sox teams in the modern era which scored less than 618 runs.

Five of these seasons were pre DH (3 also pre 1969 mound lowering). The other three were 90 + loss bad White Sox teams. Currently Oakland (409); Kansas City (454); Detroit (455); Cleveland (463) and Miami (470) have less runs than the White Sox’ 479.

White Sox low run total 162 Games (2023 618 pace)

  • 463 1968 *
  • 531 1967 *
  • 566 1972 *
  • 574 1966 *
  • 586 1976 (64-97)
  • 587 1980 (70-90)
  • 598 2013 (63-99)
  • 617 1971 *

The six seasons in the pre 162 game era were all during or just after World War II, with lack of MLB talent the primary driver, which likely also led to the acceptance of integration.

154 Game Schedule (under 587 run pace)

  • 538 1942 (World War II)
  • 543 1944 (World War II)
  • 553 1947
  • 559 1948
  • 562 1946
  • 573 1943 (World War II)

Note * - MLB lowered the pitchers mound in 1969, and the AL added the DH in 1973 as a response to league wide run suppression.

Boooourns!  Boooourns!

Cubs already up 3-0 in Toronto...Keuchel somehow got through 2 scoreless but now tied 2-2 with Phillies in the 3rd.  Four consecutive reached.

Maybe the Reds have another run in them?

Looks like it might be Keuchel's last start ever...ERA up to 7.11 or about what we got out of Lance Lynn this year.  Make that 8.10. No 9.45.

Done done done.

Why don’t we check and see what his mom has to say.

She'll probably blame it on the White Sox.

Checks.  No that contract expired at end of 2022.

Again, I like McKnight as a fill-in (more so on the radio)

92 mph with no command. He’s so broken

Starting off 92-94 and no control...

Fathom?

oh, look, a middle infielder not catching the ball

Doubt we'll throw out two runners in one game again the remainder of the season.

Kopech apparently never learned how to defend his position or get in the proper fielding pose after release.

Cubs up 6-0 update for Lip and Ron.

No reason this guy should be guaranteed a spot in the rotation next year.

#2 starter!

Seriously, how’s he’s barely hitting 92?  Is he injured or just washed up.

We might need four starters for next year...note to Hahn.

He will get 2 and you will like it

Can pitchcom add 3-4 mph?

Not fooling anyone.

I will never understand how the two guys they got for Sale went from physical freaks to mediocre skilled players

So frustrating watching Kopech pitch.
