It's pretty much solidified for me. Unless Jerry spends his own money, ain't no new ballpark getting built.

I would tell him: if it's publicly funded, then it's owned by the city of Chicago, it's going to have a retractable roof, and the city will use it however it wants for the 284 days a year that the Sox

Sox fans are a weird bunch.  Practically my whole life, people bitched about the current stadium.  Now, they are planning to build a ballpark that looks like it would be one of the premier sports

  • I had to do a double take. I expected it to be an old article from the first time the site was considered.  I thought the land was spoken for, but a new modern stadium at Clark & Roosevelt wo

And the consequence of this is Jerry is going to take his team and leave as soon as someone else will build him a park.

I think the worms will get to him before that ever happens.  He has zero leverage.  His team blows and the Cubs are still in the same city.

When you watch a game from the stands, do you focus on the players or face the owner's suite? I've yet to see a person wearing a jersey of the owner at a game.

That is going so well for the other teams trying to do that. They aren't leaving.

Um, Oakland?

I always thought the truth hurts.  I didn’t know it was funny.  Enjoy going to games this year.  $67 million dollar payroll.  Jerry loves your support.  Throw a sh!t product out on the field and some chump will still pay to see it.  The team won’t win anything but Jerry will.

Fisher is about a Billion dollars short of someone building him a ballpark.

Yes, JR wanted to build a stadium in Addison, but when that feel through, I thought it was Harold Washington that insisted that the Sox accept the current location of "The Rate" as the location for a new ballpark in order to get the city's support.

You are correct. Washington said it would be built across the street from the original park or he would tell his people on the Stadium Authority to vote 'no.'

Tax payers and the U of I are already out North of 30 Million on the 78 nonsense.

The so-called "78" parcel sits on a former river bed that was filled in with garbage for over a decade. It has no value , which is why it was given away by Nadhmi Shakir Auchi, an Iraqi businessman who purchased it  from then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s former political fixer Tony Rezko ( convicted in 2008 of corruption-related charges and sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison.)

The site is a worthless dump that unfortunately the U lof I and IL taxpayers had to find out after spending 30 Million. The least Related Development could do now is to stop dragging the White Sox and other potential partners/tenants into a pipe dream designed to bail Related out. Not going to happen...ever. Dead in the water.

Dead in the water.

The White Sox stadium plans.

The end.

Probably not in Jerry’s mind.  What will the next location be that Jerry asks for taxpayer money to build a new stadium on?

Taxpayers are out of more than $30 million for University of Illinois' scuttled South Loop project

That’s how much taxpayers had to pay when the University of Illinois pulled the plug on plans for its Discovery Partners Institute research hub at the sprawling 62-acre South Loop site being marketed as The 78.

Doesn't seem like Related is all that screwed yet...

Along the Cumberland river.

TN has already announced that's not happening...all the money went to Titans' new facility.

Hilarious how he blames everyone but Jerry.

Its going to be interesting to see how this plays out. The present ownership does not want to renew the lease at the present stadium. If there is new ownership maybe they might think differently about staying at the present stadium.

You’d think the fact Jerry went to Springfield and pitched this proposal would be proof that Related isn’t conning anyone, but alas, hard to pass on a good conspiracy theory!
