2025 MLB Draft

Anderson let him off the hook by throwing him a BB.  If I'm facing a guy with a broken hand he's getting nothing but inside fastballs.

  • July draft sucks. Wastes a lot of developement time.

  • Also - f*** these new rules.

  • Walker was the Sox first pick (Comp round overall 47) who was a huge surprise when selected from a Utah CC. Literally no one thought he was a first rounder but Kenny saw him play one game and came awa

I think people are sleeping on Fauske to the Sox in the second round. Let’s just say, he’s had a lot of visibility the last few years to an important member of the organization.

I think the interest is definitely real and they know him well. My issue is that I think Sox go under at 10 and pay $3 million or so at 44 and I wouldn’t give Fauske that type of cash. They can do better than that.

I really like Alec Blair with that second round pick.

He's a prep outfielder from California. He's really skinny and frail but he's 6'6 and has shown lots of power potential from the left side. He checks the boxes on a lot of the Sox's biggest needs. He's a lefty. He's an outfielder. And he's a plus athlete, he's committed to play both baseball and basketball at Oklahoma. He has never devoted himself to baseball full time, so he's very intriguing.

I like Jojo Parker's brother too, maybe the Sox end up with both brothers.

10. Chicago White Sox
JoJo Parker, SS, Purvis HS (Mississippi)

Parker has multiple potential landing spots in the top 10. He might be the best hitter in the draft, it's just that his other tools aren't as good as his competition.

For some teams, the top tier is 10 players (I basically agree, though I might include one or two more) so the White Sox's pick could be quite simple, but odds are their board doesn't just have all 10 names in a similar order.

Jojo Parker would be a great outcome. I want Parker, then Gamble at 44.

Very interesting to me he doesn’t have Bauer going anywhere in the first.

I’d love Bauer if they can get him in the 2nd round.

Sounds like another prep bat that has some helium is Coy James. I wouldn't mind this type of profile at all with a second round pick.

48. Coy James
SS

Ht: 6'0" | Wt: 180 | B-T: R-R

School: Davie County HS, Mocksville, N.C. Drafted/Committed: Ole Miss
Age At Draft: 18.4
BA Grade: 55/Extreme

James won the MVP award of the U-15 World Cup in Mexico in 2022 as he led the USA 15U National Team to a gold medal. In 2023, he made the USA 18U National Team as an underclassman and was the leadoff hitter for Team USA during the U-18 World Cup in Taiwan. It capped an electric year for James, one of the best pure hitters in the country. He’s an aggressive hitter with good hand-eye coordination that creates frequent contact with a compact swing. He catches up to good velocity and has the adjustability to barrel balls even when he doesn’t get off his best swing. James has significant strength projection remaining, but the ball already carries well off his bat with over-the-fence juice to his pull side that shows up both in batting practice and games, giving him a chance to be a 20-plus home run threat. James is an average runner who some scouts think projects best at second base in pro ball, but he has a chance to stick at shortstop, where he’s a steady defender with a high baseball IQ and turns double plays well.

Scouting Grades: Hit: 55. Power: 50. Run: 50. Field: 50. Arm: 50.

There was tons of heat to see him yesterday and he looked realy good.  He's locked in at the plate and took a terrific round of BP.  I don't see how he makes it to 2-44.

McDaniel had Rays taking him at 37 in his mock today.

So what’s everyone’s thoughts on Jojo

I’d be fine with it, but it would be nice to have a high ceiling true shortstop prospect.

I would love JoJo. Also fine with Kayson Cunningham, Billy Carlson, Kayson Witherspoon, Steele Hall. Would be meh on Bremner. Do not want Liam Doyle or Marek Houston. I have no idea how to feel about Jace LaViolette. His swing and miss terrifies me, but I get the power upside.

Can he really hit but won’t play shortstop

Is that a question?

Or he can really hit...but

Someone's gonna get a steal with this dude.  Big time player.

So I guess I would ask whether Jo Jo is athletic enough for CF; or whether he hits well enough for a corner position to draft at #10.

Overall, the trade-down (underslot) option looks appealing.

Witherspoon's brother looks interesting for later rounds.

Here's a nice write up on the brothers. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/family-ties-keep-twin-brothers-kyson-and-malachi-witherspoon-bonded-on-path-to-baseball-success/

Barring someone falling, I wouldn’t be surprised to see $11 million spent on top 3 picks. $6 million at 11, $3 million at 44 and $2 million at 76.

Bauer was 99-102 in the 1st.  Still only going 3 innings.

Appenzeller was 86-91 and trending towards going to Tennessee.

If the Sox went college pitcher at 1-10 I was hoping it would be this guy but there is absolutely no way he gets to them.  Dude is a stud.

Any shot Cannarella slides to 44? Would guess he’s going somewhere between 25-40 but man he would be a fun player in round 2. Some interesting tools with the glove and speed and the bat should play too. Would love to see him manning CF for the Sox for the foreseeable future.
