Damn it. I wanted the Lakers to get Vooch. Hornets made a good deal and Lakers are betting on Williams being healthy (he’s young and ascending but hurt a ton) but I wanted Dalton from Lakers and was hoping Bulls might even get a 2nd round pick to boot.

  • AKME gonna try to turn in their 100 2nd round picks for a top 3 overall pick like they're at the prize counter at Dave and Busters.

I had very low expectations and that is somehow still lower than them.

  • The Kings really saw the Bulls roll out Zach and DeMar for years and said "we'll do that "

"L.A. agreed to send rookie Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2031 unprotected first-round pick and a 2030 pick swap to the Hornets for Williams, sources told Charania."

That's a lot to give up for Mark Williams...

Is truly tanking and bottoming out a viable strategy in the NBA these days?

Yes, obviously you still need good luck in the lottery, but at the end of the day you need stars and those are hard to get when you pick 7th every year.

Kind of thought that at first but then remembered Williams is younger than Knecht. It is funny though since the pick and Knecht are the two assets Lakers said they wouldn't give up for Luka. They turn around and get Williams for them. Talk about the all-time fleece

"Nico, we can't give up such assets for Luka, he may gain weight."

"Yeah we can totally do that for Williams."

So is the Doncic-Davis trade as one-sided as everybody's saying? Is it an attempt by Silver to make the Lakers good forever? There's a lot of yapping on X about how the NBA ratings are terrible and Whitlock says the WNBA soon will pass the NBA in fan interest. Or is Davis good enough to help Dallas win it all? All the chatter I've heard/read suggests the Lakers have pulled off the steal of the century.

Yes.

Is there any doubt the Bulls will miss the train?

Again.

Williams also gets hurt way more than Fat Luka.

Sounds like Vuc to the Warriors isn't dead and Coby to Magic is out there.

Get anything for Vuc, try to get real value for Coby.

8:13 a.m. ET: The Golden State Warriors might not be done dealing, Brian Windhorst reports on "Get Up." Windhorst said the Warriors have multiple expiring contracts to deal, and could be looking for a big man who can shoot, like the Chicago Bulls' Nikola Vucevic.  espn.com

AKME and standing pat. Name a more iconic duo.

Is this confirmed or just looking this way?  But if no moves are announced in the next 20 minutes or so, they should be immediately relieved of their duties.  They literally have no plan and will likely continue just winging it into perpetual NBA hell.  It’s a shame Michael Reinsdorf is completely & utterly useless.

Cowley is reporting that most of AK's calls are laying groundwork for the summer.

The fact that AK reportedly turned down multiple offers for Vuc this year cause he held out for more is infuriating.

How can you possibly not clear Vuc out this year?!?

Cause AK won't take second rounders. Not for Vuc, not for Drummond.

Its another Reinsdorf sad state of affairs.

I always knew and thought Hahn was bad at crucial elements of his job. I never thought he was straight up clueless in the way AK is. I’ve never seen someone back themselves into a corner this stupid and also be totally cool with it. He seems extremely stupid in a way I have not seen since…jeeze I don’t have a reference for a sports exec this transparently dumb.

Nico Harrison had Luka Doncic, Jalen Brunson and Kristaps, so there's that.

But that's all I can think of

And Steph Curry...

“Some of the conspiracy theories about Doncic, or reference:

  1. The NBA's ratings are down, so the NBA looked for a spark for their marquee franchise, the Lakers. NBA commissioner Adam Silver ordered this trade.

  2. The new Mavericks owners, the Adelsons, don't want to hit the second apron that they'd hit by giving Luka the supermax contract, so they cheaped out and traded the guy and made up some excuses about his conditioning and THE WILL TO WIN.

  3. The Adelsons want to move the franchise to Las Vegas, where they own casinos, so they are trying to get the Dallas faithful to abandon the franchise and say, "Well, we would've stayed if you supported us..." Think the movie Major League, or the stunt Clay Bennett pulled moving the Sonics to OKC (this sounds pretty familiar!)

  4. Mavs GM Nico Harrison is confirmed friends with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and hence didn't even bother contacting other teams. He was just wanted to help his buddy and is either repaying a debt or is expecting a favor quid pro quo.”

Steph Curry has definitely not ever played for the Mavericks.

If you're talking about Seth Curry, he's an old 8th, 9th man. Not nearly as crucial as the others.

"The man who orchestrated the entire deal, Nico Harrison, is the same person who fumbled Nike’s pitch to Stephen Curry in 2013, costing the company hundreds of millions of dollars. At the time, Stephen Curry was with Nike, but the company’s attempt to re-sign him was a disaster..."

Oh, the thing I mentioned a few pages ago. In this instance, I was discussing his moves as Mavericks GM.

"When Ego Meets Incompetence: it’s not a conspiracy, Harrison is just ruinously bad at his job

A new GM gets a little taste of success and then decides to blaze a trail of his own brilliance alone"

"Nevermind the fact that the move he wanted to make, adding Matisse Thybulle, was blocked when the Portland Trailblazers matched Dallas’ offer. Or that Kyle Kuzma, the wing Harrison had his sights on before pivoting to Washington, nixed the trade to stay with the Wizards of all teams. Sometimes, the best moves are the ones you don’t make. Or, in these cases, the ones you are prevented from making due to forces beyond your control."
