The Bulls are not changing.  Maybe when AK's and Eversley's contract are up they go in a different direction by Reinsdorf is cool with .500 and a packed house.

  • AKME gonna try to turn in their 100 2nd round picks for a top 3 overall pick like they're at the prize counter at Dave and Busters.

I had very low expectations and that is somehow still lower than them.

  • The Kings really saw the Bulls roll out Zach and DeMar for years and said "we'll do that "

Good buy low on Ivey.

It was fun having Red Velvet while he was here.

If AKME is gonna keep this up, just say f*** it and go for Zion. Ivey and Okoro are both floor raisers alongside Giddey and Matas, but I don't see them pushing the ceiling.

Essengue is a non-factor as of now.

Go for the possible home run.

They gotta trade Coby White now. Ivey will be an RFA this off-season, so they would need to pay him to keep him. With him coming off the broken leg and knee injuries, it'll be interesting to see how he recovers.

Simons is a great scorer. Shocked they got him.

Simons is also an expiring. At least they're making moves. Vuc should have been off the team 2 seasons ago.

They'll have to pay him to keep him. I'm not sure he's much of an upgrade over Coby. Similar types of players.

Still no draft picks?  Come on.

They gave up one to get rid of Vuc lol

The oh so profitable Bulls are more worried about getting expiring deals to free up cash versus getting some picks to actually do something here.

Not that I really care how the rest of the season goes...but the only big man healthy on the team right now is Jalen Smith and he's more of a PF than a center.

Can’t wait to see Olbrich, one of the worst NBA players in a long time

So what are the Bulls trying to do with these moves, big picture? I'm honestly asking, really don't follow the NBA closely anymore and have completely given up on the Bulls, but I'm having trouble totally understanding what these moves signal by the Bulls in terms of a long term plan?

It signals they have no long term plans.  This is patch work to stay in the end of the playoffs ceiling mode.

Bulls just became the betting favorite to land Giannis.

They've been that way for a day or two. I still don't really see it but today's moves make it a little more likely.

Don't give me hope man

I don't get the Giannis fit with the Bulls, at all.

The Bulls by all accounts don't have the assets to acquire him, and if they some how found a way to gather up the assets, the team would be left with nothing around Giannis. Why would he want out of Milwaukee to come to...the Bulls? How is it a better situation at all?

Plus, Giannis is now 31, and has been dealing with a calf injury for a while now. He's never been a pure shooter, instead dominating with slashes and force...something that probably doesn't age very well.

I just don't understand the fit.

Unless the Bulls can get Giannis without giving up Giddey and Matas, it doesn't make a lot of sense to try and get him. The only thing this team has going for it is that they own all their picks (+ Portland's lottery protected pick) and they have a ton of cap space this off-season. But if you trade the draft capital and any semblance of talent the team currently has, it leaves you with just cap space (minus Giannis' max contract) to fill out a roster that needs to win in the next few years. The timeline isn't great and Giannis wouldn't have a much better chance to win here than he already does in Milwaukee.

They're basically trying to recreate the Giddey move in aggregate.

I don't hate it. They're getting younger and more athletic. But they need a star that's a tier above Giddey.

Also I know Vuc's tenure was fraught, but I'll always root for the big dude.

Building a team around an offensive center was not a great start for the new FO.

Don't know but if you can get him, you get him and figure out the rest later.

In isolation - these were good deals so far.  They don't have the draft picks I would like - but they have a young core and tons of cap space and all of their picks.  They also have many flippable players.  I'm not saying teams will love it - but if a star was out there - you take a combo of 2 or 3 of these young players plus a combo of FRP and you can swing big and get someone, still have flexibility and have some talent on the roster.

Do I think this front office can do it? No.  Will they do the above and than package it for the wrong player...probably.  Ie they Vuc concept was a good one - that sort of package can transform a team - they just didn't pick the right player to do it. You got to sit back idle a bit - and make big swings when the elite players get disgruntled.
