edit: Mets were 40-120, Sox would need to lose 121 to have the all time loss record since the 162 game format 

if the Sox go 41-121, they would technically not be the worst team since their win percentage would be .253, Mets were .250 that year 

but since the Sox are only gonna win maybe 2 games from here on out, 38-124 takes the crown all by themselves 

(my prediction a few months ago was 39-123 fwiw)
