That may be a good idea considering Getz seems to mostly go after terrible players.

Considering the White Sox have been rebuilding for a long time, I found the "no shortcuts" line condescending. 

I don’t have a feel for prices but wondering if giving Kepler a one year bounce back deal or a Tyler o Neil deal for a full regular position would be in cards.

if Kepler regains form vs fastballs he could be a decent asset, O’Neill would help us vs RHP and we could trade to a contender for a platoon bat in July if needed.

Only if he can stay healthy and start hitting the ball in the air more.

Someone will take a chance on him I guess but I wouldn't expect much given his track record.

Shocking really. 3 years ago, if someone said there was a decent chance Eloy and TA would be done by the end of 2024, even the biggest pessimists would have laughed.

At one time, the Sox had a talented group of young players consisting of Robert, Eloy, Cease, Kopech, and Moncada. Four are no longer with the team, and in reality, only one lived up to expectations. I wonder if the FO ever asked itself what happened.  But don't worry. Another 100-loss season is on the way.  Perhaps two.

I can assure you they have, but the problem was and maybe still is, they always found outside things to blame instead of looking in the mirror starting with JR.

Colin Rea would be an interesting waiver claim.  Slightly more expensive slightly better version of Chris Flexen.  I'm a little surprised the holy s%*# cheap as f*** Brewers weren't able to trade him.

Would make some sense as a veteran starter but I doubt the Sox want to pay him $5.5 million.

I think a lot of lower level mlb players are gonna be hurt by the death of the cable box. Soto may get $600 mil, but guys barely above replacement are gonna get squeezed. Listening to podcasts about who’s available in the bargain bins makes me wonder if it’s not just better to take your lumps and go all young, all league minimum.

I'm guessing the White Sox now have the top waiver claim for the entire off-season, and Spring Training. I hope they get some mileage out of that one advantage.

Good pitcher, reasonable price.  He'll help the team try to be respectable, at least until July when they can move him.
They should grab several players like that.

$3 million is more in their wheelhouse for a veteran starter.

What we thinking the rotation will look like next year?  Crochet is 100% getting traded so I think we can safely exclude him from the list.  To me, the top four guys below should be pretty much be given rotation spots short of massively bad camps.  And from there, I’d probably have an open competition for the #5 role between everyone else.  My thoughts are Iriarte & Schultz should probably get time in AAA no matter what, but they will threaten for spots at some point during the season.  Flexen can be kept around as a mop up guy, but ultimately we have enough young arms to avoid wasting $5M on a C tier SP.  I’d rather invest in some protection for Robert or the bullpen.
