Lots of talk about an Ms starter for Mayo...Woo the most prominently mentioned.

They should probably do a similar deal involving Kjerstad as well since they keep blocking him and he's going to be 26 soon. O'Neill was such a waste of resources.

I was gonna make some lame joke about Vaughn's chase rate, but I've reread that quote too many times and now I don't even know who I am anymore.

Cubs showing "significant interest" in Alex Bregman...

I don’t see it happening but if they sign Bregman and somehow manage to re-sign Tucker next offseason, Ricketts might actually win back some Cubs fans.

But I think signing Bregman would kill any chances of the Cubs re-signing Tucker next offseason.

The Pirates should win the auction and then give the kid everything they offered him for the card initially.

"We had a lot of fun with the idea of a bounty, but we couldn’t be happier for this young baseball fan and his family,” Pirates chairman Bob Nutting said in a statement. “Reading his story on how he pulled the card on Christmas morning, what a magical moment. That family bond is what baseball is all about. I would love to host him and his family and follow through with a meet-and-greet with Paul and his teammates, either here in Pittsburgh or when we travel to L.A.”

"We asked seven MLB.com writers to each pick out a club they see as a strong candidate to improve its 2024 record by at least 10 wins. (The lower the ‘24 win total, the greater the opportunity for improvement, so we set aside the record-setting 121-loss White Sox for the purposes of this exercise.)"

“It's all about what the boys do out on the field, and when you pour into them every single day and allow them to go be themselves, this is a byproduct of that,” Vogt said. “None of us in this room that work in baseball would have a job if it wasn't for the players -- it is about them, it will never not be about them.”

Comical.  Kudos to Getz for turning down that move.

Let the Cubs be constantly haunted by their Busch trade down the line.

I bet they did.  Jerry probably asked to include Benintendi.

"Listening to Hot Stove on the MLB app this morning where Harold R, Matt V and Jon Lester were debating the various rumors involving Cease and King, when Harold says and I paraphrase, "the only move which could potentially make the Pads better would be to put Tatis on the market and hold onto both Cease and King." His reasoning, "pitching wins championships" and only by moving Tatis would the Pads be able to maintain their pitching for 2025, yet get a return which could also make them better in the long-term."

The problem here is that Preller's too invested in Tatis as franchise foundational superstar AND there are zero guarantees they can sign Cease/Boras, King or Arraez before FA.

The best thing would be to hold on until the trade deadline and then look for takers on Suarez and Cronenworth as well. SD right now fourth best in division behind SFG and AZ as well.

Just no getting out from under Bogaerts deal...that's the one killing them performance-wise and also keeping payroll from being cut to below $200 million.

TA signing a minor league deal. What a fall.

The Dodgers signed Yates.  Hopefully there's an interesting DFA coming.

"The team has reportedly been shopping several players, including reliever Ryan Brasier. That type of move could ease a potential logjam in the bullpen. With Yates, the Dodgers will now have seven veteran relievers with no minor-league options — a potential source of inflexibility for a team that has made a habit of shuttling relievers back and forth from the minors in recent years to ease the workload of its starting rotation."
