And maybe (?) Orioles...?

Ah no. Two teams that love their prospects and banking on them to get desperate is a little foolhardy. Corbin Burnes is still out there too.

I like this better than re-signing Soto for the Yankees. Pretty reasonable rate of pay, all things considered. They have two top 100 prospects ready to play in the outfield, pitching seemed like the thing to address.

Also obviously good for the Crochet trade market. Probably the best place he could've landed, time for Baltimore or Boston to pony up

The Yankees can do this, trade for Bellinger, Arenado, and sign Walker and I think they're a better team than last year.

Great news for us.  C’mon Red Sox.  Time to match your rivals.

Buehler is still a complete wild card though after last season...

Red Sox, Mets with inter-city gamesmanship, and hypothetically the Orioles.

Orioles will never ante up and the Mets offensive prospects look mediocre.  The more offers the merrier though.

Good pick up by the Yankees

Ok

30 now, -1.3 bWAR and a 5.38 ERA

He was decent in the playoffs, but this deal feels even riskier than Rodon.

Feel like the second half of his career will be more up and down like Wacha.

I guess Walker might have been referring to a D backs 1B now...but they have Uncle Ben's Rice!

Please let us know what exactly this has to do with the Yankees.

When someone puts sign Walker...you realize there are actually players out there with similar names, it's not like the guy is so iconic more than 5-10% of hardcore baseball fans would even be able to identify him.

He was on my fantasy team recently, had a massive season and still at 730 am reading the thread while bleary-eyed the Dodgers' pitcher came to mind initially.

Sorry, that was Christian Walker

I think @Bob Sacamano was suggesting that the Yankees sign 1B Christian Walker, not Walker Buehler.

Yes, got it.

Maybe the Yanks strike back with Alonso.

Polar Bear Pete and not Friends and Family or F-1 Alonso.

Walker Buehler already has an iconic last name, albeit spelled differently.  May as well use his last name…

Ok but what did the Sox offer

“We feel like our offer was still the strongest one out there.  If he hit all of the incentives, the total value of the contract could have been worth $350 million…”

They also offered 8/215.

8 million, 215 years to be clear.

5 years, $60M. With incentives and options, the deal is actually worth 9 years, $288M. What a dumbass.
