So he has a bad attitude, can't take criticism, and escalates situations to physical violence? That's a real bad sign for a player too, although he'd fit well with the White Sox.

When somebody keeps whining about sports, and uses their kids as a reason to dish, saying the kids might need therapy is a kind, loving response. If you think therapy is a put down, you might just have a problem that needs addressing. And if your response validates violence, you could probably use a good, long sit down, and a talk about your motivations, yourself. Therapy is good. Suggesting therapy is like suggesting breathing, or a spa-day. You're welcome.

Then you should use your own powers to walk the anger back. Spend your online time posting bible quotes. Preferably, not ones directing David to forcibly circumcise the Philistines. Just as an aside, if you're at all religious, I'd suggest starting at Genesis, and reading the bible. I'm not, but it's an awesome read. It really resets what you know about religion and the world. And if you're really into it, there's a book called "No God But God" about Islam, by Reza Aslan, that details the history of Islam, and how it resonates, today. Seriously, I've gotten into deep conversations with cab drivers based on that book that have changed my life. Like, the Book of Daniel still has ramifications on the middle east today. I try to stay out of other people’s beefs, but telling @JUSTgottaBELIEVE his kids should go to therapy because they are embarrassed to be Sox fans is just douchey. And please don’t treat us like idiots and pretend your comment was well intentioned because it clearly wasn’t. Do you even have kids? Do you know what it’s like to be a kid right in this day of social media? Do you know what it’s like to grow up going to Sox games with your family and worry that tradition will die with your kids because the org is so incompetent & boring that no young fans have any semblance of interest in this team? Yeah, no one is going to die over this stuff, but it doesn’t change the fact that it sucks for many of us with kids. My dream of regular Saturday tailgates with my two boys when they are older is all but dead because the Sox have given them zero reason to the follow the team in their formative years and they have moved onto other interests. 2 3

That's a valid conversation. I have nephews, and bonded with them through sports after their dad (my brother) died. I took them to see some pretty bad Bulls teams right after Jordan and Pippen left. Easy way to spend time. I don't really like going on a fishing trip. I don't like to camp. However, that was a way to spend time with my brother and his sons, so I went on, and participated in the annual fishing trip. Because I wanted to spend the time with them. I'm going to stop there, because I don't want to get accused of anything else. I'm sorry that Jerry Reinsdorf does that to you and your family. But you’re not sorry and that’s the problem. You’re actually mocking posters who are frustrated or saddened by the state of things. You have every right to feel optimistic of what Getz is doing and I agree the blatant pessimism can get tiring, but the fact remains we just were the worst team in baseball history. We are viewed as a complete clown show and have zero star players on the roster other than an oft injured Robert. Baseball is already a really tough sell for a lot of kids and unfortunately the 2023/2024 White Sox makes it nearly impossible to gain a young kid’s interest. I forced them all to go a game last year and they had zero fun as soon as all the snacks & treats went dry. I spend tons of time with my kids and it would be selfish of me to make them go to more games given how bad & boring this team is. There are simply more fun things to do that makes everyone happy. And it’s totally fine for Sox fans to be upset that what once was special experience for them and their families may be all but gone for good. It’s been difficult to process at times, but I have accepted the fact I will die alone as a Sox fan without a legacy to live on through my kids.

Now, and I know this is really hard, consider people who have tried to have kids and didn't, and apply this sentence to them. I am truly sorry that I was flippant about parenting. My wife and I would have loved to have had the problem of trying to get kids to be into something we are. Didn't happen. But you would know nothing about that issue, so I suggest that you crawl off of your soapbox, and drop it.

But that doesn’t take away the feelings the rest of us have and we shouldn’t have to feel bad about it. My point that you quoted was certainly not to mock you in any way, but rather emphasize that something I had dreamed the moment I had kids has been taken away from me because this org can’t find a way to be even mildly competent. No doubt there are bigger problems in life and I will survive, but it just sucks when something that should only provide joy ends up providing much sorrow. Which you never will. It's great that you can say that you're sorry about what I've endured. But you will never understand that you have a world of joy and fulfillment, and you're complaining that one tenth of one percent of a lifetime of fulfillment isn't also about the other 99.9% of your life. And that you're surrounded by people who will listen to people with kids complain about that 0.1% not being about their kids and will respectfully remain silent, while they're reminded of the 100% of their life that they don't get to share with their kids. Even when we're getting scolded about missing a birthday party, or not buying their kid a gift that would mean so much to them, because I'm being scolded about not helping them parent, but also for being a failure. I am truly thankful for the empathy, and for you taking the time to walk me through what I'm not getting. I probably seem bitter, but I am thankful. But once you get that other part, let me know. I know parenting is hard. I admire you guys for it. Edited January 25 by WestEddy
caulfield12
"Marinaccio has some MLB experience and even a couple of saves for the Yankees. He is about 30 years old and has a better than strike out per inning history in MLB and even much better in the minors. He will likely fit into the middle of the Padres pen picture. He is promising, but probably walks a few too many at this point. He could possibly be an Estrada like pick up for this season, if things work out well. This is probably the closest thing we have seen to actually adding MLB talent to our roster this offseason."
