When the roster comes out, please start a thread and go through each player and tell us normal fans if that player could make the roster of any other team and rate them on a scale of one thru ten. thank u some of the smartest people on the planet already did the figuring for us buddy. https://www.espn.com/espn/betting/story/_/id/44414982/sportsbooks-set-historically-low-white-sox-season-win-total given that I'm going to go with "not many, not many at all, greg".

March 27, 20251 yr This is probably the worst Opening Day roster I have ever seen. Robert is a legit mlb player. I'm not sure anyone else is a lock to be i the league two years from now. Here's an interesting exercise: would you be SHOCKED if this player was DFA'd in the next three months? Lee - No Thaiss - No Vaughn - A little Sosa - No Amaya - No Vargas - No Benintendi -Yes Robert - Yes Slater - Kinda Jankowski - No Taylor - No Baldwin - Yes Maton - No I think there is some upside in guys like Lee, Sosa, and Vargas. But if things go horribly wrong, not a lot keeping them in the league. Amaya, Maton, Taylor, and Jankowski -- I would be shocked if they're not DFA at some point. Slater is owed some money, so that's why I'd be a little surprised.
March 27, 20251 yr It’s horrible. An expansion team would have started the season with a better roster. Count how many players on the Sox roster could be considered 26th men, hell, more like 27th men for doubleheaders.
March 27, 20251 yr Breakout Candidate: RP Mike Clevinger The 34-year-old former starter was excellent in the latter part of last decade for the Guardians, then mostly sank out of relevance. But he’s healthy again after undergoing disc replacement surgery last August and is occupying a relief role that should limit his medical issues. While Clevinger may not get many chances to close on a bad White Sox team, he’s in position to extend his career if he excels in the opportunities he does receive. — TC LOL. Sports Illustrated has us 29th but their breakout candidate is the most hilarious part. https://www.si.com/mlb/opening-day-power-rankings-breakout-candidates Edited March 27, 20251 yr by caulfield12

Since Getz likely knew he was going to cut Colas all along, perhaps he did go after Canario when the Cubs DFA him? Once Getz found out the Mets were offering cash considerations for Canario, it only took one look from Jerry for Getz to know the conversation was over. But at least Getz managed to get a player for Colas. If Greg Jones was a starting player, stayed healthy all season, and got enough plate appearances, he’d probably steal away the single season strikeout record (223) from Mark Reynolds. At least he has all the physical tools...off the chart. Except for hitting breaking balls.

I was Director of Stadium Operations and PR for the Augusta GreenJackets in 1994 and 1995 (South Atlantic League champions), and also worked for an NFL football player's charitable foundation after that. We introduced the most successful-selling hat in all of MiLB (168 teams) at that time, for example. We also had our games on ESPN during the baseball strike (had just built a new stadium as well), and I worked with Steve "Psycho" Lyons to put on one of those broadcasts. Our owner was Bill Scripps from Scripps-Howard News Syndicate out of San Diego/La Jolla/Scripps Cancer Institute. (Of course, back then, minor league team valuations were still in the single digit millions of dollars.) One of my best friends from that program is still Director of Pro Scouting for the Atlanta Hawks after starting out as a mere video intern with the Orlando Magic in 1992, to the Supersonics, to the Bucks (George Karl connections) and Atlanta (Karl coaching tree).
