Slater oblique strain

And all that reinforces my original point. These guys aren’t super young anymore. They are what, 26 or 27? If they are still at the point where they have to prove themselves in AAA, then why are they on the 40-man? Surely some other teams scraps have to be a better option to take up space on the 40-man than mid 20’s players who can’t even hit in AAA.

I don’t disagree, although you have to have some AAA depth on your 40 man roster in the event of injury.  Fletcher should be kept until someone better with options comes along and I haven’t seen that person yet.  Colas is probably just a function of bringing in a new leader on the hitting side of things and making sure he’s had a proper chance to evaluate the player before moving on.

  • Getz has the golden touch

  • In fairness, the young players on this team get hurt too (probably more).

  • This is an honest question. Not trying to be a troll. Do you really believe that Getz thinks Slater is better than Soto, Santander or Hernandez? Or is it more likely that he is doing what he

This is true.  Fletcher can at least play all three OF positions and has value as a fourth outfielder.  If Colas doesn’t hit, he is virtually worthless.

So a 30-year-old LF with swing and miss issues comes across the waiver wire - why does Stone Garrett, or Alexander Canario deserve a spot on the 40-man? They're all projects. It's the devil you know. Fletcher has less swing and miss in his game, and is a better fielder. And they've worked with him for a year to know what they have.

These external guys are definitely projects too, but they have no history with the Sox. Whatever the Sox have done in the development process with Colas (and to a lesser extent, Fletcher) clearly hasn’t paid dividends. Perhaps getting new faces in here with no affiliation to the organization could benefit from a change of scenery. It’s just throwing darts at the board essentially.

Must be a real mild one. Thats a quick return.

There's ZERO reason to rush Slater back to play in the COLD April weather...

Just let the usual AAAA suspects play and maybe one catches fire.

Fletcher is fine for what he is. 4th OF type. He'd be a great 26th man.

There’s almost zero reason to rush Slater back even if he’s healthy.  🤣

Ouch. Sometimes the truth hurts. :)

I mean, I hope he heals up and don't wish him ill.

At the same time, eh. Lets a young guy try to succeed.

We really need to know the guys who are fine with playing young guys who name the young guys they want playing so later we can know they weren't rushed or Getz destroyed their careers.

I've very bluntly stated I don't like Fletcher as a player multiple times. Not a fan of DeLoach either. I've liked Colas.

But also, I stated it a few posts down, so, I did name the names that you wanted named.

Relative term for Colas/Fletcher/DeLoach, all being 26-27.

They're all ages 27, 26 and 26 respectively. Not spring chickens in baseball years, but younger than Slater, under team control and they are at the point of their careers where they need MLB at-bats. They've all played in the majors for extended periods at this point and had their fill of AAA.

They're the same age range of Stone Garrett and James Outman a few years ago when you were pounding the table for the Sox to acquire either of them, so I'm not sure why you want them blocked by Austin Slater, Mike Tauchman and company.
