The Janikowski add is hilarious. He had a .508 OPS in 200+ PA's for the Rangers last year. Fletcher is probably a better defensive RF'er than Janikowski, and while Janikowski is better in CF he's also getting old and defensive skills fall off quickly. Is he better than Robert if Robert is back? No.

Canario is on waivers.  The Sox should have top waiver claim priority due to their record last year.  Taylor can back up CF.  If Jankowski isn’t sent to DFA land to claim Canario in a few days, Getz is a clown.  🤡

Like, WTF are we doing here with multiple outfielders in their mid-30’s?  A rebuilding team that is going to lose 100 games again.

Which guys?  Jankowski?  He will be DFAed within seven days.  Tauchman has been a legitimately productive OF for the last few years despite every poster here calling him “crappy”.  Slater was one of t

I legitimately think they fell in love with his catch last year and were like "we must have this man."

I dont understand Jankowski over Fletcher at all. Fletcher was pretty awesome defensively I'm RF and I'm sure they could get some of that to translate in CF.

There is no answer for this that makes a modicum of sense. Taylor and Jankowski can't hit their way out of a paper bag.

One or the other is okay to serve as a fourth outfielder to mainly back up CF, but rostering both is ridiculous.  Like I said, I’m hoping Jankowski is just a placeholder for the eventual Canario waiver claim.  If any team can give the kid a chance due to him being out of options, it’s our garbage corner outfield situation.

I keep thinking about Jeff Cohen's tweet from a while ago (Jeff is a great follow, for what it's worth).

The guys in Chicago (outside of Benintendi and Robert) are the glorified taxi squad. So what the f*** is Charlotte?

*Obviously the pitching part of his tweet got decimated by injuries/continued bad after a month + the infield will be fun to follow. I'm strictly talking about the OF here.

YOU....ARE....THE MAN

And I mean that most sincerely.

I can't see an argument for carrying Slater, Tauchman, Jankowski and Taylor over DeLoach, Fletcher and Colas.

There really isn't a good argument for this particular season and the circumstances on the roster.

If he follows this board or not, I would like to send a heart felt Screw You out to Kenny Williams on this Dump Eder Day

How is it possible to make so many bad player evaluations

Because these are the White Sox and incompetence reigns? But also, holy s%*# are they bad at this.

Is it just me or did they trade for Fletcher and sour on him almost immediately?  Granted, he was bad... but still feels like he was in the doghouse from the jump.

There is no if about it.

Something something new, stellar hires something something revamping the org.

Either these hires actually suck or they've just made a solid year and a half of bad decisions due to bad luck.

241 plate appearances with the Sox and 120 plate appearances in the minors last season.

Apparently, Getz can admit to botching a trade rather quickly.  He DFA’ed DeLoach even faster.

Clevinger, Bryse Wilson and Penn Murfee are the only Sox relievers with even a year of major league service (and much of Murfee’s MLB service has been spent on the 60-day IL).

Thank goodness we made the move to bring in Dominic Fletcher.

Unfortunately we needed him in case we got in a fight with Nick Madrigal at the bike rack

Yeah, bad luck is such a minute factor here that it's almost irrelevant. If new hires that look great on paper aren't impacting or preventing the continual string of bad decisions, what exactly has changed other than the names in those positions?

Impressive how Getz managed to put together an even worse opening day roster than last year.

LOL I forgot they had Taylor too.

They have back-ups for their defensive replacements.

Also while we're at it, the Cease trade:

  • Soft-throwing righty that needed Tommy John
  • Hard-throwing righty with control issues that needed Tommy John
  • 30-year-old reliever that has been DFA'd
  • Young CF prospect, but didn't hit above .200 at A+ ball

"Best package offered"

EDIT: Got Berroa and Iriarte mixed up. I've got my issues with Iriarte, but he is obviously a lot higher ceiling than Berroa.

He's not a good center fielder, but you already have two defensive pluses in Center with Robert and Taylor. I'm sure Fletcher could match Janikowski in LF and RF.

What rebuilding MLB team set to lose 100 games doesn’t need two backup CF’ers that can’t hit a lick and are aged 33 and 34?

Don’t forget — a reliever with a minuscule $1.05 million salary that wasn’t claimed by any other team and couldn’t make the Sox opening day bullpen.  And he was supposedly a great inclusion to the trade because he was going to be flipped for another prospect!

I figure I'll just make this now cause we're already boggled by decisions and Opening Day hasn't even started

I can see why we need a change.
