Honestly, I don't really blame him for not going back. He was going to be pretty far from the base by the time he realized what was going on and you were going to need to deal with the other runner going back too. Basically by that point you're toast and just hoping the throw goes to the backstop

I mean, I'm not doing any name calling here, but he should have kept his leg on the bag and called time. I'm assuming it's a very serious injury, otherwise that's pretty dumb for a big leaguer to do on a turned ankle.

This is exactly my point. Thank you. Obviously if he tore his Achilles or broke his leg that’s a different story.
