April 10, 20251 yr It really does feel like the Ishbia stuff came out and Jerry felt that unbridled joy that was coming from the city, and honestly resented it which brings us back to “I’m not out till I’m ten toes up”

Years ago the St. Louis Browns and Connie Macks A's were financially poor franchises and usually sold off or traded their players because of lack of money. JR is not poor. He is a multi billionaire. This doesn't say much about his character. You would think any wealthy owner would be ashamed of this team. Obviously he's not. This whole situation tells me he is content with this losing team AND LOW PAYROLL. This is going to be a very profitable year for JR and his investors. How much money does he need? Most people couldn't spend what he has. Yet he seems to want more and more money. Connie Mack sold his players to line his pockets

April 10, 20251 yr We are now known for 2 things. The Black Sox scandal and 121 loss season . Thanks JR

April 10, 20251 yr I called 35 wins but 25 is doable if we all pull together. Unite behind the Bad Sox.

What the f*** else is he going to do other than own the chicago white sox? I mean, what else is there to do in 2025 when you are a billionaire, other than own the chicago white sox? I can't think of one thing.

As some long timers on here know, I used to freak out on a daily basis if and when we lost the game, any game. Even meaningless September games. i wanted ALL wins. Now (it's not my fault, it's Jerry's conditioning me this way) I expect to lose every single game, kind of in some weird way want to lose every single game. It's strange psychology but I'm thinking after an organization/team finally loses a person (the person is convinced the organization is utter trash and has no ability to turn things around) the brain expects defeat and welcomes defeat. Weird I know but I can't be the only longtime Sox fan who is so jaded he/she kind of likes when we lose now. Edited April 10, 20251 yr by greg775
April 11, 20251 yr If JR spent about $75 million on a few free agents this team could win 50 or 60 games.
April 11, 20251 yr Please put Lance Lynn on the Commissioner's Contraction Committee in an advisorial role. If you can get him away from the dinner table first...
April 11, 20251 yr Bear with a frustrated greg ... thanks You know what's very odd about the Sox ineptitude? Can you think of another business in which the business had its worst year in history the previous calendar year and yet without any shame trots out a product significantly worse the following calendar year? Why the hell is this accepted as standard procedure in the sports world? Most people with healthy brains would realize getting the No. 10 draft pick means NOTHING if you have to put the worst product ever on the field to get it. Again, management, the on field leadership sees nothing odd about being this rotten with the payoff to come in 3-4 years. Most businesses realize if you are that bad for that long, you are out of business in 3-4 years. Very very sad sports teams can get away with this. You know, with a team this bad for this long an extended period, a GOOD business would seek out in its records its MOST LOYAL customers and shower them with free stuff (concessions, free tickets, free parking at the least) to reward them for supporting this unsupportable crud of a team. Jerry was never going to let the fans run his team. And he shouldn't. But I think he wanted to make a connection with the fans but didn't know how. I am convinced that the criticism and public backlash bothers him a great deal. He won't change what he is doing, but he is human. A normal person wants to be accepted and liked. He used to walk around SoxFest. He won't do that now.

It’s really hard to sit here and see what Fisher just did to the A’s, what happened in Montreal, and the overall bullshit AAAA development team that the Marlins have been since they entered the league (except for the few times they tried) and think that Jerry is doing more damage to the game than someone like Rose. imo Rose damaged himself, the most. The league he damaged but what Fisher and Loria have done to this league and what they showed other owners could be done, is far worse. They intentionally devalued their franchises to move them

I've never met him and he doesn't do many interviews so I really don't have an opinion on if he has "pride". You don't think he's proud of his family or business accomplishments? And in the grand scheme of life I'm not certain that wins and losses for a baseball team is something I'd base my pride on.

If I owned a team for 40 plus years and I was in Reinsdorfs place I would be absolutely mortified. This is absolutely a pride piece of his life and while he is still making money I definitely believe he feels the shame of what’s happened, he just doesn’t have the motivation to do the right thing either in investment or selling
April 11, 20251 yr If every team won one less game and the Sox won 29 more, would that really make a huge difference to the game overall? Is that really the difference in ruining the game? Are fans anywhere else complaining about the Sox? Is a Pirates fan giving up the game because the Sox suck this bad?

Certainly he would take pride if it was thought by him to be a barometer of the quality of his stewardship, which I have no doubt he does. His problem is, and always has been hubris and delusion about the quality of his stewardship. Edited April 12, 20251 yr by Chick Mercedes
