When will MLB Step In?

Recommended Posts

The team this year is even worse than last year. These losers are not going to win more than 35 games this year. At what point will MLB step in and put an end to this madness? A team that could not beat the Rosemont Hot Dogs in a 7 game series is bad for major league baseball. Please save us Manfred and force Reinsdorf to sell. You are our only hope.

Why would MLB step in? Manfred works for the owners, and not for the good of the game.

The owners could all group together and vote to force Reinsdorf to sell. It has happened in other professional sports before. Donald Sterling and the LA Clippers are a recent example. It is a pipe dream for sure but something needs to be done.

It would take all the pressure from AL East and West ownership groups about the four Central teams having an unfair competitive advantage...especially if three teamd make the playoffs again this season.

Not to mention lower attendance/shared gate revenues...at least SAC and TB have "exciting/lively" home environments now...and zero draws for all these teams when the Sox come to town, except maybe expected blowout Victorian for the home team?

That's what greg was saying last year. At least contract our team. We then could get a new team in Chicago under new owners. There should be contraction. We are not trying to win in the (once) greatest city in the world. With our gorgeous hats and cool jersey tops we would be THE team in Chicago if we tried to field a winning team. The Cubs have stunk since their one great year. The city is there for the taking for the Sox and their trendy beautiful hats and jerseys. Nobody wants to wear Cubby bear jerseys and hats. The Sox should have owned Chicago starting in 2006. Instead .... Please contract the White Sox. End this misery.

It can't be good for MLB to have a AA team in there

Exactly. Fans should file a class action lawsuit against the Sox or something.  You are not watching a professional baseball team when you buy a ticket to a Sox game.

The Pirates were BAD bad throughout the '90s, '00s, and '10s. The Royals were BAD bad for most of the same stretch. The Mariners missed the playoffs for something like 22 straight seasons.

MLB doesn't care about parity. They care about making money.

We have a long way to go before MLB steps in and tampers with an owner's business.

Agree. Colorado and Atlanta have the same record. The White Sox will probably continue to flounder but it will not change anything this early in the year.

I wish MLB would step in. I don't think anything like this has ever happened before in MLB. Years ago the St. Louis Browns and Connie Macks A's were financially poor franchises and usually sold  off or traded their players because of lack of money. JR is not poor. He is a multi billionaire.  This doesn't say much about his character. You would think any wealthy owner would be ashamed of this team. Obviously he's not. This whole situation tells me he is content with this losing team AND LOW PAYROLL. This is going to be a very profitable  year for JR and his investors. How much money does he need? Most people couldn't spend what he has. Yet he seems to want more and more money.

Lmao teams have been bad before, for a long period of time that could be construed as screwing over the fans and not trying to win.  Have you ever looked at the athletics?  Like, ever?  How about the Astros?  Look at the Astros a decade ago, come on man

the league isn’t saving us.  JR isn’t Donald Sterling

I don't think the league will save us. I just wish that JR would leave the scene. Preferably selling the team.

Yeah, but JR doesn't spend money and doesn't know how to win. He's the other owners wet dream.

The other teams should be forced to give the Sox players to avoid the embarrassment and make the league more competitive.

The other teams should force the Sox to field a team they could possibly lose to.

The other teams should force the Sox to spend more on players, which also will force them to spend more.

The league should allow the Sox to have the first draft pick which the other teams pick for the Sox.

Jerry has no pride.  What a terrible way to end his "managing partner" era.
