Shane Smith,  Davis Martin, Burke, Vasil, Vargas, Quero, Meidroth, Baldwin and Elko are here. Schultz, Hagen Smith, Braden Montgomery and Teel  should be here sometime in 2026. Things are starting to look up. There's  an old saying, The White Sox Are Coming, Tra La, Tra La!!!!

There goes the marketing department. Their whole job is to do that for us and to get us to believe it.

It is my opinion that Brooks has lost his way in that field.  Maybe it’s results, maybe just losing his fastball, but the last time I can recall truly memorable marketing that really hit all of us was the Grinder rules.  Never really have reached that again

It's a bit concerning that Taylor, Schultz and Smith all can't throw strikes now.

Davis Martin will have to buy a ticket to the next white sox playoff game.

Martin may be our best trade chip unless Robert drastically improves in the next 2.5 months.

What could you get from the Orioles, lol?

We need to bring all their prospect "over-hypers" back into play, albeit somewhat chastened.

They're probably regretting the production of Kyle Stowers right about now.

Alcantara (former Cy Young but struggling to get back to form after TJS)  Framber Valdez (what will Astros do?) Pablo Lopez (what will Twins do?) Chris Bassitt (what will Jays do?)

Starting pitching market is VERY VERY thin at the moment.

How do you market this to one of the biggest bandwagon fan bases in baseball?

"several players busted before, and so every future player will also be a bust" would be kind of a silly way to abstract on the historical evidence though.

i don't understand the negativity in this thread. what's the point in being pessimistic about baseball, I don't get it. if it's not enjoyable, you don't have to follow the team. there are plenty of other hobbies. there are definitely some good players to look forward to though. and if they don't turn out to be good, so what, life goes on.

The answer to that lies with the 1962 Mets, I guess...it was an expansion team, after all, but they actually drew quite well, comparatively.

I guess that fascination/morbid curiosity with how much worse can things really get is why White Sox attendance is actually up by 2% through 1/4th of the home dates (worst weather of the year behind them), rather than falling an additional 15% like most of us expected/predicted.

There's also this whole "underdog" thing going on with guys like Elko, Shane Smith, Vasil, Booser, Palacios, Amaya, Maton, they're players that almost everyone can identify with, having been knocked down or knocked back so many times in life, they're hard NOT to root for in many ways.  (Well, maybe very few of us have 95-98 MPH fastballs, I topped out at around 76-78 mph on our gun in Augusta, lol, or about what Amaya threw in relief the other day, actually, I think he was mostly in the 60's.)

It's also the same reason there's so much national attention now for the Rockies....firing hitting coaches, then firing Bud Black, they've done everything but fire the GM and owner, lol.

Then their owner Monfort has gone after the Dodgers instead of the real culprit, their OWN poor spending, starting with guys like Kris Bryant as well as the Arenado contract, then dumping it for pennies on the dollar.

Man, I joined this board 16 years ago looking for a place to talk about Sox prospects. I love rooting for them to succeed.

The last rebuild - and even guys from the current rebuild like Colson Montgomery - should be a giant flashing red light. Colson was the anointed one as late as last spring.

And let's face it, unless you're going back in time and re-writing history, the industry was way, way, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher on the previous rebuild than it was on this one.

Us vs. Them was pretty good too. Pissed off the Cubs, their fans and some in the media. And of course the billboard they put up near Wrigley Field that said "Real baseball 8.1 miles South." That was great as well and then JR specifically ordered it painted over because he didn't want to get into a pissing contest with the Cubs for some reason.

It happens every year in MLB with pitching reclamation projects producing results. Bannister has shown he can scout and then get the most out of guys like Fedde, Smith, and Vasil. The ballclub needs to expand this to hitting prospects.

In 2026 If JR does decide to spend and get a free agent go after Josh Naylor if available.
