The facts, as stated are that Ishbia does not own a majority interest in the White Sox and even if/when he would, the White Sox do not own Rate Field or the parking lots. Not sure why Ishbia would now claim that HE has been approached by developers. It seems like a self-serving statement without any sources to back him up or any way to contradict him - very trumpian as we have come to know. Yea, we have a deal...Did you just tell someone to NOT MAKE THIS PERSONAL? You have been on here literally making up whatever self-serving garbage you want about Ishbia, and you have the nerve to talk about ANYONE making self-serving statements? You are right that it is not all about you, and it would be nice if you could bring that into your own posts, but of course you will not, and will be back to fiction writing.
17 hours ago17 hr The rank hatred for Reinsdorf seems to be based on the perception, over time, that JR is greedy. For me, I don't buy into the accusations of greed (especially because it could be an antisemitic trope) as much as his aloofness, inattentiveness, and at times bad judgment. There are countless examples of all of those negative traits.I also do not buy into any accusation that Reinsdorf has a flawed character. I do not know the man, but any portrayal of him as a wicked self-serving greedy SOB is contradicted by his philanthropy and his love for the White Sox.At times Jerry has let loyalty impact his judgment. Examples of that are too many to recount but his loyalty to Hahn and KW and to LaRussa were prime examples - things that really clouded his judgment and caused a lot of damage. Some of my best friends have a profound distaste and dislike of Reinsdorf so I am familiar with that. Now there appears to be a belief by some that anyone will be a better Chairman and steward of the White Sox. A lot of those opinions are based on projection of one more billionaire that none of us really know.My own opinion of Ishbia is based on what I believe are some short-sighted moves that reek of self-interest and personal profiteering. One example is pursuing a land swap for ISFA property for land he doesn't even own yet - a move that imposes on residents and businesses adjacent to the historic areas of Comiskey Park and Armour Park. Another is trying to foist an artistic rendering of "The Railyards" with numerous and obvious errors which appear to be driven by a condensed, self-imposed timetable, or worse. This is similar to and in some ways worse than what Einhorn Reinsdorf and Savarise did with the new Comiskey Park concept. The Railyards AI rendering is hot garbage. plain and simple. Edited 17 hours ago17 hr by tray
17 hours ago17 hr This is a pretty detailed article about the Crain's discussion today from Block Club Chicago. Several interesting items that weren't mentioned in the Crain's article and it's worth a read even if you read the Crain's piece IMO. I found the following paragraph interesting. The extended Riverwalk proposal isn't new, but I hadn't heard about a High Line-like path to Lake Michigan."His ideas include extending the Chicago Riverwalk south to Ping Tom Park in Chinatown and creating an elevated walking and biking trail inspired by New York’s High Line, connecting Ping Tom Park to Lake Michigan, although he did not provide specifics. He also wants a transit stop serving The Railyards and said Northwestern Medicine is interested in building there."Block Club ChicagoReinsdorf Will Make Final Call On White Sox Move, Not Me,...Justin Ishbia said any decision on the team's future is up to team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and said Amtrak had to answer to the backlash over its plans to open a railyard near the current stadium. Credit where credit’s due, that looks beautiful. It sounds pretty impressive. Interesting that they're proposing a "lightweight fabric canopy" to provide shade to 65% of the seats. This could end up being a gem of a ballpark for the Royals.

He said developers have shown interest in building residential homes there, if it’s sold. Other potential uses, he floated, could be youth sports, another professional sports stadium or a college training campus. But Ishbia emphasized that neither he nor the White Sox owns the land.“It’s not a foregone conclusion that the White Sox are moving,” Ishbia said. “That’s Jerry’s decision, period, end of conversation.”

The Highline in NYC is also an incredible part of urban engineering and innovative way to squeeze a park in an area that sells itself in square inches.I've been to the Highline and it's a great linear green space right in Manhattan. Looking at Google Maps, there is an train line just north of 16th St. between Clark St. and Indiana Ave. There's a single track that is active, but there's a ROW next to it that appears to be from an old, abandoned 2nd track. This must be what Ishbia is referring to. I haven't heard of any plans to make this part of a Highline/606-type trail, but the ROW is there and then they'd need to build ped bridges on the east and west end of it to connect Ping Tom Park to the Soldier Field area. Obviously money would be needed from somewhere to do this, but it looks like it's technically feasible.

The amount of minute detail and research he has put into this, WAAAAY beyond just, oh here is where we can put a ballpark, is amazing. I found these items from his write up noteworthy:"Ishbia has been attending Detroit Tigers Opening Day with his father for over 40 years. Together, they have been to every MLB stadium, keeping a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that ranks each venue on several factors, including sightlines and concessions""Shore Capital also recently bought The Maxwell shopping center along Canal Street for $15 million. ...... During his Q&A, Ishbia hinted he’s close to buying more South Loop buildings to expand his foothold.
