Just take the damn pitch or pretend you were going after it just so if other teams are paying attention you don't want to give the impression you're on automatic take for every 0-2 count you get. Absolutely he was part of it although part of it also wasn't his fault, a first baseman being asked to play the outfield with little to no experience at the big league level.
