LaRussa's not a GM, nor is he a POBO (Prez of Baseball Ops). He was a good manager and can probably give a good assessment of players in the minors, which is where he has mostly been seen this last summer. If he's in Reinsdorf's ear, maybe he's whispering "Stay away and let Getzie do his job". That works for me.

There's not much evidence he and Dave Stewart did a good job in AZ a decade+ ago.  Summarily fired.

Same with the Angels for TLR...

He WAS a good manager back in the steroid era.  That was decades ago.  The rest of it is exactly the type of stuff he has failed at.

No manager seemed to benefit more from amphetamines and steroids than TLR.  lol he managed some all time juicers

See that's the problem. TLR should've gotten Eloy Robert and Moncada on the good stuff. Definitely some HGH to help with muscle recovery.

I always like Naylor as a player, and finding out he stole 30 bases with the 2nd slowest sprint speed in MLB, made me appreciate him even more, but there is no way that body ages well.

Yeah and guy is only 28. It's hard to predict what his next deal will look like but if I had to guess, maybe 4 years tops? Idk hard to guess.

I can see 4 guaranteed with a few options. His body type typically doesn’t age well, and even if he were the outlier, it’s still a tough gamble. He’s a good but not great player, and I don’t see teams paying for front end production that doesn’t outweigh paying for the backend decline.

Well, the parameters were $160, and one player. I don't think there's one player who puts this team over the top, and I was thinking he's young enough to grow with this group. Maybe Murakami. Just listened to the FutureSox podcast. Neither of these two are gonna break the bank, most likely.

Murakami might have fallen from $300 to the $225-250 million range, having been injured for most of 2025.

I should write Ishbia a letter  requesting to be interviewed for the  White Sox GM job. I've written JR in the past about wanting an  Interview for the GM job but never received a response from him. Perhaps Ishbia will give me that interview. I would give him an interview he would never forget.

I think Jerry is more of the guy who could hire an utterly unqualified guy for the GM job.  Hopefully Ishbia lays that tradition to rest.
