October 12, 2025Oct 12 I would have been highly aggravated if I had to endure an extended Cubs post season especially in light of my team's dilemma. But I still encounter people (wife included) who always ask me why I can't root for another Chicago team to win a championship. I guess it's a Sox fan thing and they don't understand. Anyway my mind keeps drifting back 20 years ago when things were better

I'm not even that big a hater, I was apologetic for their loss although excited for what our friends up north might do vs the Goliath Dodgers, yet my remarks were received with "why do you hate Chicago, @nrockway why don't you just move to Wisconsin already?". Which I might. But I also asked why they never go to streets in Chicago with numbers in the name. The Sox/Cubs don't actually compete against each other, but the rivalry is very fun and analogous to a real world, omnipresent North/South Side divide. I was rooting for the Tigers, an actual rival, but could never in a million years support the Cubs. As a kid, we listened to more Cubs games on the radio to simply root for whoever they were facing.

When it’s comes to Baseball I’m for 2 clubs The Go Go White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.

Anyway my mind keeps drifting back 20 years ago when things were better IMO, if the Cubs had won the World Series as the Sox were coming off 324 losses in the last 3 seasons and no end in sight to the mediocrity, it would be a huge nail in the coffin for Sox market share in Chicago. If the Sox franchise where in a more healthy situation, it'd be easier as a Sox fan to be sanguine about a possible Cubs championship. I also don't remember many Cubs fans rooting for the Sox in 2005. They just kept shouting "what about attendance"! I'm not sure why it's always Sox fans who are expected to kneel down and kiss the Cubbie ring and not the other way around when the situation is reversed.
October 12, 2025Oct 12 1) I admit that I was happy when the Brewers won the series. Watching those games made me realize how far removed I am from the National League. Most of the Brewers team was a mystery to me. 2) Watching that last game between the Phillies and LA, I found it amazing how that final game ended. That Phillies pitcher did one of the dumbest things in MLB Playoff history by throwing that ball nowhere near the catcher. When I see plays like that I can't help but wonder if the game was fixed. F the Cubs and all that they stand for. It's wild some people think Sox fans should root for the Cubs and visa versa. You don't see Yankee fans rooting for the Mets do you? Or Dodger fans rooting for the Angels? It doesn't work that way folks. You pick your side, pitch your tent and that's it.

My two favorite teams?.................. The White Sox and whoever is playing the Cubs.
