I’d rather play Kelenic and Baldwin for those few weeks/month

Probably the better option, I’m just bored and want them to do something.

Santos, Houser and Robert trades are all fine imo. Fedde/Kopech wasn't great, Cease was bad.

  • The National Equirer is more accurate than that guy.

You are a White Sox fan, so it is probably more like a -1 WAR 37 year old 2B who will play 1B poorly.

I’m talking myself into Nick Castellanos if the Phillies eat most or all of his contract.

Giving up assets for Castellanos is the exact opposite of what this franchise should be doing.

Well I’m not in favor of giving up assets for him, but I saw a tweet where Nightengale said the Phillies will have to eat basically the entire contract just to get rid of him. If the Sox give up nothing and take him on for 1 year/$2 or $3 million, I wouldn’t hate it.

Placeholder in RF until Montgomery is ready

I’d rather give those at-bats to Periera.  Former top 100 prospect with multiple plus tools coming of a 128 wRC+ season in AAA and who has only had 176 major league plate appearances to date.  Much better use of playing time IMO and right now I’d much rather him get the at-bats than Kelenic.

Fair. I would like to see the Kelenic’s and Pereira’s of the world at least earn a roster spot in spring training though. It shouldn’t just be handed to them.

Amen to this.

I honestly don't think Sosa has any real trade value either.  All bat, no D guys only have a market if they are HUGE hitters, and definitely more lefty than righty.

My feeling on Mead versus Sosa is, neither will be a regular starter. An infield utulity man should have a good glove. So I think Mead is the guy betwen the two.

If they take on the whole deal, they will expect something.  Unlike Jerry, they are almost certainly eating cash to improve returns.

They shouldn’t do something dumb for the sake of doing something haha

Yeah, I realize Castellanos could probably be acquired for almost nothing with the Phillies picking up a big portion of his $20 million salary, but we can’t joke about having to play Benintendi but then look to acquire and play Castellanos.

I don’t disagree, but Pereira doesn’t have options, so he’s getting a spot or you risk losing him.  I wouldn’t bring in Castellanos as competition for him though.

Could potentially sign someone like Conforto or Winker as a NRI to create competition in spring training, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they just have Baldwin/Pereira/Kelenic play in the corners and call it a day. Seems like they’ve packed it up for the offseason already.

Winker is just a DH. Pass

Does Conforto have any real options left to get near full-time at bats with any teams out there?  He’s a Boras client but he’s gotta be desperate at this point.  I’m not sure he is even worth it these days but he could get at bats in a platoon with Pereira in RF and alternate at LF and DH with Benintendi.

EDIT:  I forgot he would block Baldwin from playing time so probably not worth it.

Invite as many NRIs as you can fit into camp.  I’m certainly not against another OF addition depending on what the plan is for Benintendi.

We all seem to be ignoring what Nightengale said right in that clip. If Castellanos sits, he sulks, and it becomes a clubhouse issue. We. Don't. Need. Him.

He’s Benintendi type bad defensively and we can’t roster two guys like that

"Yes, Luis Robert will defer $15M to facilitate that trade!"

I don't have stats in front of me, but the played in playoffs.

This Tucker market seems ridiculously below expectations.  I really Ishbia was in charge right now because we should be all over this guy at the price points and length being discussed.

Castellanos’s postseason stats in 2025?  He was good in the postseason in 2023 and 2024, but not last year.
