It seems like the Phillies have not been willing to bend to Getz’s demands for Robert for awhile now (2+ years?).  I think that ship has truly sailed.

Package Robert, $10M, and Sosa to an offense needy team that has their competitive balance pick like the Pirates, Mariners or Reds.

I think trading Robert would be completely unproductive and would damper the Murakami signing for me. Whatever you think of him at this point, he’s the best option they have in CF.

They need a few legit arms to make any kind of run anyway. Robert isn’t going to be the difference between going to playoffs or not. If they can get a comp pick for this draft from Reds or Pirates, with a couple extra pieces, that would be great.

Bingo. You get rid of his salary and see what you can do with that money to add. I don't think many realize how valuable that Reds comp pick is too.

Only way I’m trading Robert to the Mets is if they’re getting back one of McClean, Tong, Sproat, or Benge. Otherwise hold onto him and let him hit in the new look lineup

Disagree. Pointless to keep a guy who won't stay healthy and has a s%*# work ethic on this team. Cut ties and let him be someone else's problem even if that means Hill in CF. Re-allocate his salary into something more useful.

They might buy low on Chase Petty since they liked him previously. He had a rough start to his career but Bannister can work with him. 

If they pay some of Robert's money they could get it done since CIN is cash poor.

Not if you trade for the Houston CF in another move. Maybe move Cannon and something else. 

I’m not against trading Robert, but it’s got to be for a solid return and there has to be a plan for the OF.  I actually kind of think Baldwin could handle CF and that idea is highly intriguing to me.  Small sample sizes last year, but per Statcast he really struggled in the corner OF spots (primarily on lateral movement) and was overall solid in CF.  He may be a guy who struggles with reading the angles in LF or RF due to limited experience there, but can get by in CF due to his sneaky speed and the easier reads of the position.  But that would leave a massive hole in RF and force us to play Benintendi in LF without a decent addition.

If they actually want to compete this year, yea keeping Robert makes sense.
But they've been going around in circles with him from building around him, to wanting to move him. to not moving him and on and on.  Maybe it's just time to bid him adieu.  They really need a comp pick so try to work something out with the Reds.

And see if anyone would take Benintendi for 1/2 salary.  It's time for him to go too.

It's technically like a late 1st round talent. So there is real value there and it affects your bonus pool, which arguably is even a better value that the pick itself. There were rumors last year the Sox tried getting the Reds comp pick for Robert. I honestly don't know if Robert has that much value remaining unless the Sox absorb so salary in the deal.

Robert being injured 50+ games at his salary does nothing for me, nor this team. Eat money, package him if you have to, and trade him.
