Probably would take them signing 2. Or signing a corner OF making Benintendi DH more.

I think personally, I would roll with the 2 Catchers since you can DH. The infield does get crowded adding a 1B too.

Yep.  Does anyone think Getz will sign a player better than Quero?  Maybe a guy like O’Hearn will be better for a year but he’s 32.  Moving Quero to make room for O’Hearn would be dumb as hell.

It wouldn’t be about replacing Quero with O’Hearn. It would be about what you get for Quero.

Signing Ryan O'Hearn would not be a misfit toy signing, dumpster diving or business as usual. 

I think he would be a decent signing. He‘s been good the last few seasons. Wouldn’t be long term and gives you someone to potentially flip later as well potentially.

And O'Hearn really makes Lenyn Sosa expendable. If somebody thinks they can Ron Washington Sosa into a viable 2B, that's a valuable bat. Between Meidroth, Antonacci and others, we have 2B covered for 2026. 

Looking at the teams listed calling on Quero (Nats, Padres, Astros, Rays, Rangers) I have a hard time finding matches. If the Nats would give up Lile, I could see that. Would you take a flier on Crews? I have never been a believer. Maybe Evan Carter from Texas. Theo Gillen from Rays is a few years away. Everyone the Padres could offer is way far away. It’s easy to say, “Let’s trade Edgar, but there’s no Create A Player option. Who would you actually want for him?

Not sure how it's not business as usual. It would be signing a 32 year old coming off a career year... A guy who has graded out as a negative defender every year of his career, and by a good bit. Someone who between age 24 and 29 basically was worth 0 WAR over 450ish games. He won't demand a big contract, he's a strong-side-of-platoon bat, and he's projected for a little over 1 WAR. 

This is absolutely business as usual.

He's a big leaguer and they need more of those, so it wouldn't be a bad addition to the team but him falling off a cliff wouldn't be surprising either.

I think I'd prefer Crews to Lile because Crews could actually stick in CF and replace Robert/let him slide over to a less strenuous position. Lile has obviously been better at the MLB level thus far, but it's a small sample size. I don't think Washington would give up either guy though.

Are you sure?  He’s a 32 year old veteran 1B/DH that has only accumulated 3.1 bWAR in his entire career.  Of course, he’s a former Royals player so that probably explains Getz’s interest.  It would definitely be a “business as usual” Sox signing.
