I still don't get why they chose not to play him. Other top high school picks played after the draft and did well. Holliday for one.

There's nowhere for prep guys to play anymore. Rookie ball is over and these kids aren't ready to go straight to Low-A. They played games in Arizona. We just don't know about them.

Really good Elijah Evans interview with new W-S hitting coach Adam Sinkoe just dropped. Sinkoe is super impressed with Jaden Fauske. He's another guy who could be a Top 100 guy if he breaks out in Kanny. Sinkoe also has nice things to say about the work Wolkow has done in the offseason. Worth a listen.

MLB Pipeline update is out, pretty different from BA's in both ordering and positioning.

  • 36. Braden Montgomery (BA #73)
  • 40. Noah Schultz (BA #26)
  • 71. Billy Carlson (BA #92)
  • 73. Caleb Bonemer (BA #27)
  • 88. Hagen Smith (BA #91)

So no top 30 overalls in Pipeline but 2 in BA. No 90+ guys in Pipeline, but 3 in BA (counting McDougal, who didn't make the Pipeline list).

Pipeline has Sox tied for 9th in "prospect points" (100 for rank 1, 99 for rank 2, etc.)

one year ago, posters like  @Look at Ray Ray Run were saying the Sox could have none in the top 100 this winter. Looks like a solid system that’s about to get a whole lot stronger this summer too. And there’s finally some young talent at the MLB level again as well. Could be the makings of a solid young core ready to compete once Ishbia $ infusions commence in a few years.

Callis really didn’t like Bonemer headed into the draft, so he is not on that train. He doesn’t want to put him in front of Carlson and Carlson can’t be higher than 70, therefore… To be fair, Bonemer’s swing mechanics are unusual. Most guys wouldn’t be strong enough to make them work.

Unless I’m missing something, your pipeline rankings are off. Shultz is 49, Bonemer is 61, Smith is 72.
