December 9, 2025Dec 9 Pete Fairbanks would be awesome in a White Sox uniform, don’t get me wrong. But him having Raynaud’s Syndrome is a bit worrisome, especially in the early stages of the season in Chicago. Would be interesting to see how the club would handle it, but let’s sign him first… https://t.co/J4OUhGGQqi — Dylan Barnas (@NotCease) December 9, 2025

Areas of skin that turn white then blue. Depending on your skin color, these color changes may be harder or easier to see. Numb, prickly feeling or stinging pain upon warming or easing of stress. During an attack of Raynaud's, affected areas of the skin usually first turn pale. Next, they often change color and feel cold and numb. When the skin warms and blood flow improves, the affected areas may change color again, throb, tingle or swell. Raynaud's most commonly affects fingers and toes. But it also can affect other areas of the body, such as nose, lips, ears and even nipples. After warming up, the return of blood flow to the area can take 15 minutes.
December 9, 2025Dec 9 The adrenaline of pitching in front of sold out crowds at the Rate will offset all of that.
December 9, 2025Dec 9 I can’t imagine another team not offering him the same money or more than the Sox, and why he would want to come here anyways unless the Sox have the highest offer? Edited December 9, 2025Dec 9 by WhiteSox2023
December 9, 2025Dec 9 FanGraphs had projected him to get 2 years, $16M. I'd do that. Downside risk is minimal, could make the team more watchable, might give you a trade chip. Sox don't have a lot of young bullpen arms to make space for.

There's supposedly 8-10 teams interested in him...50-75% might even be smoke and agency PR, but it feels like a certainty in this market he gets $17-20 million for two. Then you have the President of the White Sox severely limiting contracts going into 2027. For the contending mid market teams who can't afford an Edwin Diaz or even R.Suarez, this Tier B type of high leverage reliever is critical. https://www.si.com/mlb/rays/onsi/news/american-league-contender-emerges-as-potential-suitor-for-rays-pete-fairbanks Dodgers Cubs Marlins DBacks Tigers etc. Everyone expecting him or Finnegan to go next from that secondary group of relievers. Remember his previous number for 2026 was going to be $11 million. Edited December 9, 2025Dec 9 by caulfield12
December 9, 2025Dec 9 Perfect time for Sox to move is before the top of the market is resolved as long as Fairbanks is willing to play ball

That doesn't lead to quick deals for Bottom 3 teams against contenders unless you blow their AAV numbers out of the water or offer a third/fourth year just like Hahn did with Benintendi/Grandal. Just watch out for short and medium range ballistic missiles. Still undoubtedly safer than Venezuela and Colombia for scouts. Dodgers did sign that 6'7" or 6'8" Sudanese pitcher.

Signing a premium guys once a decade or at least having legitimate interest in let’s say Okamoto would be a start. Pretty much the Japanese version of Jose Abreu, just a professional hitter. Or Hyseong Kim, who seems pretty much superfluous on the Dodgers. Edited December 9, 2025Dec 9 by caulfield12
December 9, 2025Dec 9 I just hope they sign somebody or trade for somebody who makes the team better. This losing every year is lousy.
December 9, 2025Dec 9 As the Rays are my second favorite team, I’m not a big fan of Fairbanks, hope he winds up with the Cubs.

December 9, 2025Dec 9 There are some decent red flags here, the biggest one of all being reported interest. If a name is out there, I swear 99 times out of 100 it ends up not happening.
