7 hours ago7 hr Getz better not screw this up :) "Roch was the consensus, everyone thought he would pan out, so you can't criticize Getz for not going with Lackey even though he's on his 3rd MVP in 2033"

5 hours ago5 hr I know you don't take a stud catcher off the position regularly... But is it crazy to think Lackey in CF would be easily preferred over a catcher? Feels like you'd get way more value out of a stud CFer. Wish we know how he'd play out there.@Y2Jimmy0 are you still firmly in the "pick Roch" camp? Edited 5 hours ago5 hr by ron883
5 hours ago5 hr I wonder if the Sox could save more money by picking Lackey vs picking Roch. Would definitely be a factor, but I'd have to imagine they'd command similar salaries.
5 hours ago5 hr Lackey and Roch are too compelling to go high school, and associated risk, here.Lackey, to me, is particularly impressive.

The only thing I’d give the nod to Roch to at this point is that he plays SS. But Lackey is having a better season, improved upon last year, plays in a better conference, and has an arrow that is pointing straight up.
5 hours ago5 hr “Extremely athletic for a 6-foot-2, 215-pound catcher, Lackey isn't quick out of the batter's box but can flash plus run times once he gets going. He's very agile behind the plate and should become a solid receiver and blocker once he improves his focus and consistency. His strong and accurate arm is another asset, and he looked capable at third base while playing 13 errorless games there in 2025.”Basically, he has those longer strides once he gets going to make up ground…só that would apply to CF as well. But automatically one of the best CF arms, if not the best.LF Nishida CF Lackey RF Braden would give you the best arm talent of any outfield in the majors.Bonemer has at least a solid SS arm to play either corner spot, if he gets shifted to LF eventually…although here I moved him to second base.DH Antonacci (rotating)LF Sato has RF/3B abilityCF Lackey1B Murakami3B VargasSS Colson2B Bonemer/AntonacciRF Braden MontgomeryC TeelBest lineup in mlb potentiallySox at 732 with fifth highest mlb ops already Edited 4 hours ago4 hr by caulfield12

Not sure how the guy has shown anything this year that could warrant the bump given his level of competition and small school/conference.You and I are aligned perfectly going into this draft. Roch had too much expectation and a runner stamp and his performance doesn’t warrant a straight 1.1 pick.Emerson you summed up on the nose.Lackey should be our guy. Hopefully the front office trusts their eyes and don’t give into the pressure of “looking incompetent”.With out luck he will go third to the Twins and torment us for a decade.

If you sign him for slot at that value then you have about 1.5 million extra and almost 8 million total left to spend as they see fit if they take advantage of the 5%.
