There’s not necessarily any problem atm with the process right now that we are aware of in terms of Roch Cholowski and the rest. Just that the what the Sox like to do historically hasn’t necessarily served us well. Anyway, Roch Cholowski plateaued right when people were asking about the size of his upside. He’s pretty dang good though, obviously. The relative upsides of the guys at the top of this draft are worth exploring as alternatives. When you’re drafting 1-1, are you trying to be safe, sure, or are you trying to reach for the most explosive outcome possible? If the Sox were trying to be safe with Smith over Griffin, this time, many of us will regret the outcome again if it repeats, and the Sox were over consecutive. There's no need to reach for anything. You have a 3-5 WAR SS just sitting there. It's a no brainer. WIth the club suddenly fielding a pretty solid IF Roch fits perfectly with the timeline and if things are so good in two years then he goes to 2B or 3B and we just keep building. It's going to be hard to get colson off SS even if he's only a league average bat hes looking like a +15 run defensive player.

This isn's like an "either/or". Cholowsky has a really high ceiling and he'll get better in the player dev system too. I don't think he plateaued. There's still a huge ceiling to reach.
Monday at 11:18 PM1 day lackey has really turned up his game. i'm glad i don't have to choose between those two. the high schoolershave a much higher chance of failure.
Yesterday at 12:31 AM1 day Author I dont understand drafting a catcher and then moving said catcher off catcher, especially when the area scouts deem it his best position. Hes another athlete in CF. On top of that, id prefer not to draft a catcher 1-1 to begin with.

21 hours ago21 hr The only time I can remember a catcher being moved to CF is when Houston moved Craig Biggio out there. Now he's in the Hall
