OD 26 Man Roster Projection

Shane Smith and maybe Sean Burke are the only two guys I expect to still be in the rotation by year-end.  Otherwise, there is a long list of names who should eventually uproot or force a trade of Fedde, Kay, & Martin.

I think Burke will have to show something early in the season or else he will move to the bullpen, which I truthfully wouldn’t hate. I think his stuff would play up. Cannon on the other hand is probably a lost cause at this point.

I have no idea why you think he profiles as 1B.

I think he'll be up pretty quickly. I don't think Hagen develops his third pitch while throwing in the minors. There's just not enough opportunity to throw it  No. He's the 2B.  Acuna wi

Couple of immediate takeaways on the positional side: I don’t love having three catchers on the roster.  I get the conceptual reason, but I don’t think it’s all that beneficial in reality.  If

I think his pure stuff is plenty fine for a SP and he definitely has the repertoire to back it.  But he has to get back to his 2024 form for that to happen as his pure stuff regressed quite a bit last year.

This is good to see.

Sam Antonacci is on the rise, I love this guy.

Weird how they are doing these moves in such small waves.

So, with Teel going down, and Baldwin nursing an elbow, this team has become very right-handed:

c - Quero#, Lee
if - Murakami*, Meidroth, Montgomery*, Vargas, Sosa, Mead
of - Benintendi*, Acuña, Hays, Pereira, Hill

IL - Baldwin#, Teel*

AAA - Kelenic*, Wade*

White Sox feelings about Kelenic's defense could jump him over Hill. Any of Kelenic, Peters, Bergolla, or Jacob Gonzalez making the team would require cutting one of Mead, Pereira or Hill. I don't think they'd cut Pereira, and if they roster Kelenic, they still have another crunch when Baldwin comes off the IL, unless they option him.

It looks like OF was decided: Bennintendi, Acuna, Hays, Periera, Hill.

Starting infield is set: Vargas Montgomery, Chase, Murakami plus Sosa. That leaves one spot.

They probably give Mead a longer look.

And voila! With the addition of McGuire, and maybe rostering Peters, they'll have two lefty bench bats.

I think Venable should stay away from a potential McGuire Peters lineup. Those two back-to-back could get messy.

Peters seems to be a competent lefty bench bat who can cover CF. I think Hays, Acuña and Pereira are your starters until Baldwin forces the issue.

I see what you did there.

Maybe take a chance - put Antonacci on the roster and let Mead go. Antonacci has that "gamer" quality that doesn't show up in the stats, but adds value to the team.

I doubt the Sox want him on the big league roster as a bench player. The highest level he has played at in the minors is AA for 49 games. Let him start everyday in the minors and marinate. If Meidroth struggles enough to be benched/demoted, call up Antonacci to start at 2B.

It also seems like they want him playing some OF, and he's played about 2 games out there, professionally.

This. Plus it sounds like he might have been exposed a bit when he got to high level competition. Let the kid simmer until he forces the issue. No need to rush him to start his clock on what is probably going to be a 90ish loss team.

Agree. He looked overmatched at times in the wbc. He is a gamer but he has got to prove he can hit, not just get hit. He needs reps ,not a bench role.

Only if Smith can consistently find the strike zone.

Ok, somebody do it…

OD lineup, bench, rotation, bullpen

Mehdroth is a nobody.
