Think we should get news on Pallette any day now.

The lack of news so far makes me optimistic he’ll be back with us here shortly.

Not a fantasy guy by any means, but both Oppor and Jeral Perez made breakout dynasty fantasy lists for BA.

He's back.

Jerry's probably cashing out a couple of CDs and liquidating a couple shares of AT&T to pay that $50k fee.

Lame but in the grand scheme of things, inconsequential.

Gonzo on the Hot Sheet. As one would imagine.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/ranking-the-20-hottest-mlb-prospects-hot-sheet-6-1-26/

12. Jacob Gonzalez, 1B, White Sox

Team: Triple-A Charlotte (International)

Age: 24

Why He’s Here: .533/.563/1.467 (8-for-15), 5 R, 2 2B, 4 HR, 10 RBIs, 1 BB, 4 SO, 1 SB

The Scoop: Gonzalez was going nowhere fast until very recently. But reworking his swing to add a more significant crouch has unlocked the power that was largely missing for the past few years. He earned a promotion to the majors this week to fill in for the injured Munetaka Murakami, and he arrived having hit 19 home runs in just 52 Triple-A games. Gonzalez isn’t viewed as an everyday shortstop anymore, and he played first base in his MLB debut, but now he’s hitting like a corner infielder. (JJ)

Top 10 prospects

1. Caleb Bonemer, SS

2. Noah Schultz, LHP

3. Braden Montgomery, RF

4. Jacob Gonzalez, SS

5. Billy Carlson, SS

6. Tanner McDougal, RHP

7. Hagen Smith, LHP

8. William Bergolla, SS

9. Jaden Fauske, RF

10. Christian Oppor, LHP

Riser to know: Gonzalez

Gonzalez has changed his setup to be more upright and allow him to swing harder, which has manifested in his exit velocities: His peak EV went from 109 to 114 mph and his 90th-percentile EV went from 102 to 105 mph. That's something like fringy power to at least plus power with that adjustment. Gonzalez is a left-handed-hitting infielder who still has above-average bat-to-ball skills and plus in-game power with more lift to get to it in games, but chases more than he did before. He just got called up after Munetaka Murakami's injury, and I'll be fascinated to see how this new swing fares in the big leagues after Gonzalez torched Triple-A with 19 homers in 52 games.

Huge.

Someone help me out re Gonzo. Story above in BA says added significant crouch. Thought I read elsewhere, he was standing more upright and lowered his hands. Am I an idiot or are they wrong? I realize both options could be true.

Standing up straighter is the correct answer. Kiley was mistaken.

From BA's top 10 MLB hitting prospects who stood out in May.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/10-mlb-hitting-prospects-who-stood-out-in-may-2026/

Jacob Gonzalez, 3B, White Sox

.344/.438/.771, 8 2B, 0 3B, 11 HR, 21 runs, 36 RBIs, 4 stolen bases

It wasn’t that long ago that the 2023 first-round pick was considered a bust. After below-average performances in his first two full professional seasons, not much was expected of Gonzalez. But something has changed this season. Gonzalez’s 90th percentile exit velocity jumped from 101.9 mph in 2025 to 105.1 in 2026. Gonzalez has also improved his contact and swing decisions. It’s rare to see a jump in power without sacrificing some contact or approach.

In May, Gonzalez earned his first callup to the big leagues with an outstanding showing. He hit 11 home runs during the month, which was more than he had ever hit in a full season, let alone a month. Gonzalez seems to have taken a significant step forward, reminding the baseball world of the talent he possessed as an underclassman at Ole Miss.

BA has their new top 100 update. Antonacci graduated. Hagen fell off entirely and Bonemer dropped from 18 to 31.

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/risers-fallers-new-additions-to-june-2026-top-100-prospects-update/

Hagen Smith, LHP, White Sox

Previous: No. 68

Now: Dropped out

Charlotte is one of the most hitter-friendly parks in the sport, so it is understandable when even the most talented arms face resistance in the Queen City. Even so, Smith’s outings have not been long, and they haven’t featured much in the way of control or command, either.

Caleb Bonemer, SS/3B, White Sox

Previous: No. 18

Now: No. 31

Bonemer’s power will play in any park in the country. The rest of his tool set, however, needs some refinement. He punishes fastballs but struggles against secondaries, and his in-zone miss rate is higher than ideal. Add those factors to a defensive skill set that will likely require him to play a corner—thus putting more pressure on his bat—and you get a bit of a drop.
