First Lopez and now Ryan. We'll ultimately see what happens with Ryan but the Twins were already in a bad spot. Hope the Sox can capitalize on their woes.

He's the 3/4 starter on the WBC team, too.

"Naw... Just Lopez, Ryan, Lewis, Jeffers, and Buxton during the off season with a full, instead of half arsed,  commitment to the inevitable rebuild...

You know... before we lose the opportunity to get peak value because of .... (checks notes)... oh never mind...."

Crochet going to bat for his buddy:

“It’s insane,” Crochet said Saturday. “Very insane.

“It just doesn’t make a ton of sense. It’s just been that way for a while, though. The middle of the market on both the position player and pitching side kind of gets screwed and ends up either signing after the season begins or what have you.”

“I don’t know if him ending (the year) on the IL with him has done anything,” Crochet continued. “He was sending me videos and he looks great. Even the stuff I see on Instagram, it looks great. I don’t want to put words in his mouth or speak for him, but you know how spring training goes, people get hurt. Maybe some more teams need arms, more teams that are competing. There are a couple teams that really aren’t trying to win, so maybe he has received offers from those but wants to go to a team that’s actually trying to win.”

Bring him home!

"Scratched from his scheduled spring training start on Saturday due to lower back tightness, Joe Ryan underwent imaging to determine the severity of the issue. According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, the MRI showed only inflammation in Ryan’s lower back rather than anything structurally concerning.

You could sense the relief felt by Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll when he addressed reporters Sunday morning.

“He’ll be down for a few days here just to let things calm down,” Zoll said. “We’ll progress him as tolerated and don’t envision this impacting his readiness for Opening Day. As of now, we’re just going to take WBC readiness day by day here before we have anything definitive on that front. We’ll see how things go. But overall, this is about as good of news as you could have.”

Sooo there’s an injury to one of their starting 3 or they just don’t want to play Ballasteros at DH to start year?

I think they want Suzuki at DH more often than RF cuz he’s so bad in the field.  Conforto can help make that happen.  Conforto isn’t great in the corners either these days but he’s still better than Suzuki.

By the way, any surprise that Boras’s minion breaks this news before anyone else?

Pretty sure after they took him to arb over 50k, that bridge is burnt.

I don’t think they would be willing to pay him regardless of that incident, which I guess goes hand-in-hand with my opinion.  🤣

And the heavy union participation/organizing....one of three players kicked off the 8 man committee for trying to stage a coup against (now leader) Meyer which ultimately failed.
