Don't feel like it's a terribly difficult stance to understand. I mean, we know a ton of changes they have actually made. I agree we don’t the level of impact they will have, but even getting within the stratosphere of the rest of the league is a massive first step and there is plenty of reason to believe Getz has or is on track to doing that. Ultimately, it’s ok to acknowledge Getz has made legit structural improvements to the org without saying he’s fixed everything.

On Saturday, he was feeling better and the Bears flew him to San Fransisco on a jet with a member of the training staff. 10 years ago, Darnell Wright is probably flying commercial because that’s not the way the Bears did business. My point is while I’m happy to see them keeping up with the times, I’m not rushing to give the Bears extra credit for something good organizations have been doing for a long time.

A sports franchise isn't a child who needs encouragement to stay on the straight and narrow. We're a bunch of dopes sitting around and talking about the off-season. If somebody asks, "What has this team done to improve itself?", and the answer is a list of things they've actually done to improve themselves, the fact that somebody else has also done them doesn't negate that list.

I looked on Fangraphs, and don't see any team summaries beyond ZIPS, and those don't have any of the additions. Betting lines are used to entice betting, not log in actual projections. But if win totals haven't been released, then who is projecting the Sox to lose 100 games again? Are you referring to the people that argued the 2025 team would lose more games than the 2024?
January 23Jan 23 Getz had talked about trades and free agency in the wake of the Robert transaction. He seemed excited about it, as if things were advanced, waiting for Robert's money to move. I now wonder if a trade of Lee/Sosa/Mead/Quero/Cannon or any combination, thereof, is in the offing. I also wonder if they might hold the announcement of this or these moves until training camp opens in 3 weeks, and they could just put a pitcher on the 60-day IL instead of cutting someone.

Equating “don’t do doing drugs” to executing massive modernization changes to a highly complex billion dollar sports org is one of the largest leaps I have seen in my 25+ years on this site. Not much else for me to say here. The Tom Waddel quote is stupid. Enduring trust in your kid is the credit they get for not doing drugs. Just because the parent's a lunk head and withholds encouragement doesn't mean there's not still "credit". As it applies to the Sox situation would be like telling your kid that you want them to seek out all sorts of debauchery the parents' didn't even know existed, avoid that, then report back.

You left out the part when Rick had to TELL Jerry to fire him after the rebuild didn’t work, and convince Jerry he didn’t deserve another chance. But both Kenny and Rick should have been shown the door somewhere around 2014-2015, it was insane they were able to ride 2005 for that long.

January 24Jan 24 This guy is our closer. So he should be included as part of the Robert trade. Sox used the money to sign this guy. OK with the Acuna acquisition and adding two pitchers, Sox should be creeping close to .500 this season and mabe contend in this weak division. I wonder if they could land a starting pitcher even though starters only go five innings. ... The Sox have made some moves. The question is is our team a .500 club yet??
