I think that is where Decker is a pretty good potential fit. 1-2 year deal (maybe it is a 2 year deal that enables you to spread the cap and if they retire in a year so be it). Good bridge solution and combine it with one of the FA centers. That gives you a lot of flexibility for how you attack the draft while ensuring you should have a strong line.  Call it the Ace scenario - I'd than assess whether I could do something else on the defense - but would be pretty content after that really targeting the defense heavy in the draft and in the 2nd wave of free agency.

One other nice thing about this strategy - there should be a lot of cap space plus all of our draft ammo the following year to assess whether there are any spots where you want to take a big swing.

I think I am all in on the - make the interior oline great strategy.  Combine that with Wright and that gives the Bears a ton of options and quite frankly should allow them to downplay the LT spot knowing how this staff can scheme the rest (let Theo / Kiran / Braxton / other cheap option be there - see what Trapillo brings).

I think the fact that they moved Thuney to LT for that final game tells me they do see someeee importance in LT.

I really think Decker makes all the sense in the world, and I wonder if he'd come cheaper than we think.

Give me Decker and Linderbaum...Bring back Byard and Demarco Jackson... ideal world you get a DT, S, DE, and LB with your 4 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Also,  while im here, anyone else think Booker can be a good starting DE? Dude is still younger than some of the top DEs in the draft....id love if they signed Trey or traded for Maxx, but i might be one of the few who wouldn't be upset if they didnt.

Someone tell me how to feel.

Good pass blocking, bad run blocking

For a 5th round pick.

This indicates to me the Bears will be drafting a center to develop behind Bradbury for a year or two.

Agree. Don’t love it, but simply need to see how the rest of the offseason plays out

I don't love it - but maybe Bears think Newman is that guy so they want a floor person to bridge with Newman to try this?  Not going to lie - not in love with this at first glance. Don't like trading 5th rounders for guys like this - feels like you could have found someone just like him in free agency.  With that said - maybe I'm underrating him.

Also - why are Pats trading their starting center.

I do realize it is a '26 5th rounder - still don't like it - but talking about a 6th round value today.  So maybe it at very least gives them enough comfort to ensure they can be flexible when everything goes bonkers starting on Monday.

This is one of those moves you can’t totally judge in a vacuum, let’s see where else they spend. A Crosby trade is more of a stand alone deal, this one kind of seems like “Ok, let’s see where the dust settles with the rest of the offseason.”

They did just draft a center last year, so theres that.

That being said, pretty underwhelming.

He was Joe Thuneys college roommate, so maybe that helps.

I agree. Jonah Jackson was kind of made you go "hmmm" when it was made in isolation.  But you realize fit and then a bit more of the back story on why he struggled with Rams and than bam, it worked out pretty well. Hoping there is some of that here too.

Next years 5th (2027) not this year.

GGs to the Raiders for getting 2 first round picks. Not touching that one.

And the Bears wouldn’t have been able to beat that offer given the Ravens are picking ahead of the Bears. Just too much

Am I alone in my start Austin Booker campaign?

Guy was 72nd in pressures last year, BUT he only played 10 games. No one im the top 100 played less than 12....The only player above him that played in 12 games is Khalil Mack.

Dude doesnt turn 24 until December. Does he need to improve against the run??? Absolutely. Maxx Crosby, who Booker had gotten comps to, was awful his first 2 years against the run and now he's elite.

I'm not saying dont add a DE, but i dont necessarily think you need a clear cut starter over Booker.  Maybe Cam Jordan comes relatively cheap and would be a good fit with the young Booker.

I absolutely like Booker but there are plenty of snaps to go around and they need to keep investing here. No such thing as too much pass rush. Rashard Gary officially a free agent - pretty solid sack production last few years and still on right side of 30.

Green Bay shoring up their defense.

Franklin was the 2nd worst inside line backer in the NFL last year according to PFF, with a grade of 38.4.

Yeah, he's not very good. I look forward to Ben getting our TEs matched up on him.

With all the talk being about DE, and the seemingly good DT class in the draft, I haven't looked into any of the free agent DTs.... John Franklin-Meyers would be a really good "Under the radar" signing. I put that in quotes because he's not really a big name, but he's been pretty damn productive.

I think right now, I'd like to see em sign JFM AND draft Kayden Mcdonald. JFM can really get after the QB and McDonald should be a really good NT.

It sounds like a lot, but give me JFM, Cam Jordan(1yr), Byard, and Decker.....Depending on how much more cap gymnastics they wanna do, I'd love to add Anzalone as well. Hated that dude in Detroit, but he'd be a great replacement for Edmunds.

Need DEN to add a RB, WR, ILB and TE in FA and draft.

Brad Biggs expects bear’s to be busy today but nothing splashy, doesn’t think Hendrickson is happening
