I expect if he does get 400+ AB he'll be one of the worst players in MLB and it's frustrating in year 3 of this "rebuild" to still be trying to find a decent big league outfielder.

Lukkake- I understand your perspective but don't subscribe to it. You can't keep losing 100+ games a year and ask for patience. At some point you need to see some moves that excite you. Unfortunately he's not really done well with what he has acquired in trades........for this to work he has to hit on a majority of his trades and some unexpected player signings....

Outside of Shane Smith for a maybe a year (now in minors) what other guy has he hit on through the acquisition process?

Being this shitty year in and year out you are going to back into some high draft picks that may be decent but if you can't put good trades together or acquire talent through FA signings, Rule 5, or other ways then this will never work.

It doesnt help that the Sox GM himself effectively said this about good players and assets. Modeling what the Rays and Brewers do.

It’s April 15 and no one thought the team was good 18 days ago or whenever they began the season. You think they will be last in every offensive category at the end of the season?

If a team is regressing and merits an organized “walkout” by the fans like some here are saying, I just figured they’d want more of the players from the good ol days before the regression.

This is true, and I totally get the reality of the situation. But until they actually show that they can pull off the Rays/Brewers thing, might as well let yourself get excited about the rare bright spots that appear in the present day. It makes the existence of being a Sox fan slightly less miserable IMO.

As we speculate about what would happen if Acuna does not get released and instead is a regular for the rest of the season, worth considering the fact he had played over 100 MLB games before this season and was an above-replacement player (on the strength of defense and baserunning). Might need to allow for the possibility that he will not have a .400 OPS forever (expected stats indicate that his deserved offense so far is more "normal bad" than "horribad")
