Yesterday at 05:07 PM1 day No minor league stats yet. Was he injured coming out of high school? On paper seems like very little relative to a guy who can hit (even if he is positionless). Hoping to find out he got an outsized bonus to sign or something. I do get that Sosa wasn't getting the playing time here anyway but this seems like yet another Getz deal where goforward outbound WAR will be better than incoming WAR.
Yesterday at 05:11 PM1 day It was inevitable. I guess we will see what this kid has for us. Was he an overslot pick?
Yesterday at 05:11 PM1 day 5-7 140lbs out of HS. Not a big guy at all. No stats anywhere. But at least it's a position player.

Yesterday at 05:19 PM1 day Put me on record — this is stupid. Offense-starved team refuses to give a shake to a young cost-controlled player who can hit a little bit. Maybe the skeletons will suddenly fall out of the closet to make this make more sense but to me this is just Getz not liking Sosa's game on an aesthetic level and feeling unwilling to figure out how to use him.

Yesterday at 05:20 PM1 day Apparently going into his senior year, he was a pretty highly thought of CB in football as well, connected to some lower d1 programs.https://www.mlb.com/news/blue-jays-2025-draft-day-2

Probably just not ready. Doesn't mean he can't be good but projecting anything from this kind of player is extremely difficult. He could be out of baseball a couple years from now.

Yesterday at 05:23 PM1 day Kid got a hit off Manoah. Here's his Twitter feed.https://x.com/JRichCertified
23 hours ago23 hr Kid clearly has his man body, so to speak. Looks muscular and strong. Presumably hitting against professional pitching is a very big obstacle at this juncture. He's got some time to start figuring it out but I think if you just put his name out of your mind today, you'll never need to know it again.

This is not a good move. White Sox will regret this.......I guarantee you that Sosa will hit 25+ homers this year with regular playing time and will be a very solid player for the Jays.
23 hours ago23 hr Watch Sosa suddenly play the outfield for Toronto. Lottery ticket return, who knows.
23 hours ago23 hr I’m not going lose any sleep over Sosa, but I’d love to know what this organization hated about him. I hope (for peace of mind) that he’s uncoachable or something. Because it really doesn’t make sense to stick with players that are clearly much worse hitters.
