This seems like an absurdly stupid trade that I can't see the vision on from any angle.

I'll gladly take that. Wasn't a Sosa fan.

No minor league stats yet. Was he injured coming out of high school? On paper seems like very little relative to a guy who can hit (even if he is positionless). Hoping to find out he got an outsized bonus to sign or something. I do get that Sosa wasn't getting the playing time here anyway but this seems like yet another Getz deal where goforward outbound WAR will be better than incoming WAR.

It was inevitable. I guess we will see what this kid has for us. Was he an overslot pick?

5-7 140lbs out of HS. Not a big guy at all. No stats anywhere. But at least it's a position player.

5'7" 140? Holy crap!

He signed for $150k - standard bonus

I’m seeing 5’10” 175lbs on n his MiLB and BRef page.

Well I guess the good news is he's only 18. Maybe the kid will still grow.

More research shows other sites have him at 170 lbs so that might have been a mistake

I see another source that has him at 5'10" 175.

Blue Jays select Jordan Rich 502nd overall

<p>With their 17th-round pick, the Blue Jays have selected Jordan Rich, a prep outfielder from American Heritage School in Florida. Rich stands at 5&#8217;10&#8221;, 175 lbs. The outfielder is from Ho

Maybe the skeletons will suddenly fall out of the closet to make this make more sense but to me this is just Getz not liking Sosa's game on an aesthetic level and feeling unwilling to figure out how to use him.

I went to prefect game high school writeup. It says 140 in article but then lists him at 175 in his stats.

I assume it's 175

Not surprising a young-for-his-year, late-round HS sign didn't play any official games yet. Probably just not ready. Doesn't mean he can't be good but projecting anything from this kind of player is extremely difficult. He could be out of baseball a couple years from now.

Good lord

This looks like the definition of a lottery ticket, based on a couple of potential plus tools, and a very athletic kid.

I get Sosa had pretty much zero market value, but eh.

Kid clearly has his man body, so to speak. Looks muscular and strong. Presumably hitting against professional pitching is a very big obstacle at this juncture. He's got some time to start figuring it out but I think if you just put his name out of your mind today, you'll never need to know it again.

Oh boy!! This is not a good move. White Sox will regret this.......I guarantee you that Sosa will hit 25+ homers this year with regular playing time and will be a very solid player for the Jays.

Watch Sosa suddenly play the outfield for Toronto. Lottery ticket return, who knows.

I’m not going lose any sleep over Sosa, but I’d love to know what this organization hated about him. I hope (for peace of mind) that he’s uncoachable or something. Because it really doesn’t make sense to stick with players that are clearly much worse hitters.
