We're on pace for 63 wins coming off the worst season in modern MLB history and a subsequent 100+ loss season. Spare me the dumb troll. In fact spare this forum.

  • 9-14 = .391 win% which projects out to 63 wins. Nope, this is pretty much in their lane. But I guess as bad as things have been, the victory lap ceiling gets easier and easier to take.

  • "Hey buddy, your favorite team finally isn't embarrassing themselves anymore for the last few games. I bet you feel really stupid huh" - yeah, you really got me there lol

Ill say, if the Mantle and Marris comment wasnt bait, it's an all-timer.

This whole thread is bait.

There’s nowhere to go but up.

That’s even more massive trolling than Ron ever intended, and I think it was a sincere comment. 🤣

Surely they'll make us forget Bonds Sosa and McGwire too

And we'll all wake up with mint condition 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie cards with a pristine autograph affixed in our Christmas stockings

MaRis btw

maybe Barry Pepper will even come back to do a recreation of that 1961 homer race at GRF this year...

I thought I was the biggest and most consistent Colson believer in Soxdom. This guy's got him as Mickey Mantle! No one wants a silver medal, but I'm conceding gold to that!

Just think what he could have accomplished with two healthy knees and without a lifetime addiction to both alcohol & painkillers.

Someone was saying in the game thread that they were sick of seeing his mug on every post I make and agreed. We're on to Colson.

If you jinx him, I will come for you.

And on a pace for 63 wins.

Its April 23. Jose Soriano and Aaron Ashby are on pace to be the first starting pitchers to go undefeated in a full season since Buck O'Brien went 20-0 in 1912.

If they have one good week, their "on pace" record looks completely different.

You guys think they will win only 63 games? I'll take that bet.

They just had a "one good week" which put them back up on a 63 win pace. I am still #team69, but in that general vicinity makes sense to me. It gets better, but there are still a TON of holes here that will keep them away from meaningful baseball.

if colson stays healthy, he's gonna hit a shitload of dingers

Wow, not even Mantle and Maris did that. How silly to compare these guys to M&M. Wait a minute...

#Team69 can be a lot of fun. Optics be damned.

Yes, it was absolutely ridiculous to compare M&M to two players with a combined ~150 career bWAR, with one of those players being a Hall of Famer, especially considering M&M haven’t even played a full season of MLB baseball.

Good lord…

Definitely understand your point, but Aaron Ashby is not a starter and Soriano is a monster.

Glad to see you also think Murakami and Colson are similar to Mantle and Marris.

Explains a lot.

I always love the gatekeeping of which players can and cannot be compared. It's a message board, for heaven's sake. Two teammates in a potential HR chase is evocative of the most famous one.

I will be tracking the combined awards/accomplishments from Murakami and Colson…

5x MVP

27x All-Star

Triple Crown

Batting Title

2x Gold Glove

10x World Series

So then we don't need to hear about this troll-level silliness until both Colson's and Mune's careers are over. Great! Let's reconvene in 2040, shall we?

Troll-level silliness was making the comparison to begin with. Just like reassessing how good the Sox are after a win or two in a row when their overall record still stinks.

This must the lurking thought police ss2k5 keeps warning us about. How dare somebody compare one potential HR title chase to another? Boiling 3 players on the same team having a historic collection of HR streaks down to "a win or two" is next level minimalization. Something amazing is happening on the White Sox. You and RubRub see yourselves as gatekeepers of happiness.

Being as dour as y'all are, and trying to mock people who are happy after a win is the true silliness. You make more sense when discussing poo or rub-rubbing one out.
