Heroes of this game surprisingly are Quero, and Mune for moving the runners over to 2nd and 3rd so they could score the 3rd and 4th runs

That whole inning was small ball deluxe .No hard contact at all. Peters walk, Beni bunt hit, Mune weak ground out advances the runners and Vargas flare for the 2 RBI.

Serantony's 8th save is more than any Sox pitcher last year. Leasure had 7 to lead the team.

Really nice run these guys are on. First “fun” stretch in far too long.

Another win without a HR, how many shutouts so far?

That's the 3rd shutout of an opponent.

This board needs an Edgar Quero apology thread.

And Grant Taylor needs a dressing-down by a team leader. Maybe Vargas.
Don't need to see that lollygagging again.

Nice W.

Doubtful any team mate is going to "dress him down" . Taylor is not a finished product. These guys pat each other on the butt and his 8th was clutch. You just say hey you did great and move on.

It's not the walks. It's being late to cover first..

I think the Edgar Quero apology thread needs to queue behind the Tristan Peters thread, the Bryan Hudson thread, the Seranthony Dominguez thread and the Will Venable thread.

That play happened so fast, Taylor would have needed to break and start running as what looked like a single came off the bat. Taylor probably has another place to be on a single to RF. I get what you're saying, and he might have been a bit of a spectator, but that was a bang bang play. Merrill's pretty fast, too.

Preach ! Btw was there any blowback on the Schiffren comment ? No ? Thought not .🤣

Oh I know what you meant but did that happened in the 8th or 9th. Thought it was the 8th then the DP so it amounted to nothing. Venable says something maybe like thats why we have PFP's but he knew right away had made a mistake.. Plus the term "dressing down" is not part of the game anymore. Its very old school way of discipline and harsh criticism rather than encouraging instruction.

The reason for that is because Schriffen is becoming another Donald Trump. The firehouse of constant BS is numbing everyone’s sense of normalcy

Going with Taylor. Good choice rathertt han the closer in a non closing situation. Taylor can get a save.

My 1st choice was to take him out @tray because you could have him to pitch tomorrow but I supported the decision because you could figure either decision was sound. You still have to make development decisions with Taylor. They're trying to get him to pitch more innings . Seemed like a good opportunity to try it again with a 4 run lead. Got a little tense but ultimately it all worked out. Tomorrow will be a challenge though. That's life in the big leagues.

9th. That's how the first guy got on. Then 2 walks. Anyway, hopefully just a one-time brainfog.
And he's still a work-in-progress. At least I hope so.

Doubt that. Everything blows up when it deserves to be blown up and even some stuff that doesnt deserve it. If there's even a whiff of controversy it blows up.

I rewatched, and yeah, he hesitated. On Peters' suicide squeeze, that pitcher had to pull up when the 2nd baseman was at first. He beat Peters to the bag. Taylor had to do that.

He looks better than last year and he's still just 23.Look how long it took Randy Johnson to become a good pitcher. Pitchers and catchers need time . This is still almost the youngest team in baseball. 1st or maybe 2nd youngest ?

No doubt at all he made a mistake jst didnt like the term "dressing down". Thats like getting in a guys face and making him fel bad for something he feels bad about already. You dont want to reinforce or make that bad feeling last. Relief pitching in high leverage situation , they always say you need a short memory to bounce back and get them next time to pitch late inning relief.

FYI new arm for the finale

Another strong win.

IMO, with Teel this is definitely the best team in the division.

Can't wait to see Teel back.

And just wait until Braden Montgomery gets called up. Easy division win.

They are 4-1 against the NL West.

That's good. Canning making his debut. Had a few rehab starts and only 1 where he went past 3.1 innings. He hasn't faced major league hitters since mid year last year.

I feel like the Padres will be quick to go to their bullpen. It's a solid pen but this game is winnable if Kay can give us 5 innings of 2 run ball.

Really hope they just move on from him sooner rather than later. I don’t see much of a big league future for him.

He needs to go down as his adjustments have him off - but he is a very talented catcher and will be fine in the long run. He needs a reset though - had a nice rbi later.

Sox had a few hard hit balls with no luck but was a fun game. Last minute rushed to Petco with my son after his baseball game and ended. Was seated 10 minutes before first pitch - was a fun game and first time in a few years that I’ve had itch to watch Sox in person when they are in town.

They are far more interesting to watch - once Colson, Queen, Meidroth and Teel came up last year and even more so when you add Mune, Antonacci, Schultz, Taylor and Vargas giving good at bats (with awful luck).
