I think he actually does have closer stuff (20 strikeouts in 15.2 innings), but his wildness fucks him over. 10 hits allowed in 15.2 innings isn’t bad at all but 10 walks to go along with those 10 hits is no gouda.

Who is he blocking at this exact point? That could certainly change in a month or two, but for now, there isn't a better (realistic) option.

My feeling (just guess) is that he'll be gone before July 31. Attendance is up and the team is tangibly improved and competitive. Time to cut some losses. Things are starting to accelerate and the Sox have too much to see and do to waste a 26 man spot like that.

The board would literally implode, and rightfully so, if Getz swung a deal for a 35-year old Mike Trout. I’m sure the Angels would be all about making it happen.

Yeah, as we near July 1, if he still has a wRC+ under 80, maybe they eat the extra half year? They jettisoned Sosa pretty easily, so they're not hanging on to Beni for the prospect of 20 HRs this year.

YELLOW/GREEN - Rain looks to me like it's a little bit ahead of schedule, which is a good thing, because it means it also clears a little bit ahead of schedule. I'm increasingly thinking it's a dry 9 here despite some pregame rain. Won't rule out a late start or an in-game delay, but models are showing that it's looking less likely.

Trout has to go to a big market playoff contender that can at least afford most of the risk of assuming the remainder of that contract.

That much should be obvious...and a decent farm system as well to choose from.
