The boys win again. What else is new?

We are witnessing A Miracle On 35th Street. This is going to be one of the great seasons on the Southside of Chicago!!!!

Vargas had another good game with the bat. Just looked. he's at 1.7 WAR now. That trade gets better by the minute.

One of the radio guys was speculating that Vargas, for so many reasons, could be the White Sox MVP so far this season. Then the other one brought up Davis Martin, and the 1st one agreed it had to be Martin.

I goofed up, I meant to quote the Vargas 1.7 war quote when talking about how he could be MVP. Oops!

I wouldn't say it was a ho-hum win not after giving up the lead but they came up with the big hit at the right time.

Most of their batting averages are still poor but I guess it doesn't matter if you can score when you need to.

Season started a week and a half later back in 2005

If someone had said that the Sox would hit 3 HR's tonight 99.9% of us would have said at least 1 would come from the Big Three of Vargas, Colson and Mune.

Drew Romo hit a HR, then Chase Meidroth extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a HUGE 3 run HR in the 5 run 5th inning and then in the 8th, Derek Hill hit a 2 out PH solo HR to give the Sox the final margin of victory 6-5.

Antonacci continues to excel in the leadoff spot and went 2 for 4 with a double, SB and a run scored. His BA is now .280 and OPS .795.

Vargas also had 2 hits and his OPS is .854

In another weird roll reversal Dominquez came in the game in the 8th and proceeded to get the Royals out without drama on 10 pitches with 7 of them being strikes.

The 9th went to Bryan Hudson who was working on 15.2 innings without giving up a run streak. Bobby Witt hit a sinking line drive that Derek Hill snagged on a dive for the 1st out.

Pasquantino then hit one to Meidroth's left and he ranged over to pick it and make a good throw to Mune for the 2nd out. Salvy Perez flew out to Hill in foul territory to end the game. 7 pitches , 6 strikes 3 outs .

Hudson got his 2nd save of the year and extended his scoreless streak to 16.2 innings and lowers his ERA to 0.90 and Dominquez got the W and his ERA is now 3.24. Don't think this is a permanent switch but you never know. Could've just been the hitters they had to face. Venable felt comfortable switching them this game and it couldn't have worked out better.

Fedde pitched credibly after getting off to a rocky start in the 1st inning giving up 2 solo HR's. He settled in to give up just those 2 runs in 5 innings.

Sox record in 1 run games improved to 7-5.

Sox had no errors.

Kyle Teel hit a HR in 4 AB today in the 1st game of his rehab assignment in Charlotte. He will DH tomorrow for Charlotte. Guessing he could be back on May 29th at home against the Tigers barring any setbacks.

I forgot to add that the Sox are now 3-2 against the Royals. Last year against the Royals they were 3-10.

We’ve been told that BA doesn’t matter anymore, it’s OPS now, we have 6 guys in the starting lineup over .700 with Vargas over .800 and Mune over .900. I’m old school so the first thing I always look at is batting average but I’m now paying more attention to OPS, have to go with the flow.

If you just went by BA, Luis Arraez and Chandler Simpson would be stars.

Have to look at fielding/position just as much, if not moreso.

Those stats would argue Witt Jr and Andy Pages the two most valuable players right now.

I watch just all about all the Rays games and I don’t know what constitutes a star but Chandler Simpson is damn good, one of the fastest players I’ve ever seen and I go back to 1952, so far this year the Rays are playing outstanding ball and Simpson is one of the reasons, Arraez is pretty good too with a some batting championships under his belt.

Antonacci's enthusiasm is a breath of fresh air and contagious.

I actually go into watching the games now without that "how are they going to lose feeling". It feels great having the old optimism, but after what we have been through the last few years I'm still cautious........................Don't stop now boys!
