Taylor has to close for own on. I can live with him in that role.

Dominguez is not a closer and has never been. He needs to be in set up role.

I am drinking every time Kay goes 3-2. Hammered already. Get him out before I end up in the ER.

I'm probably something approximating an Acuna booster but I think it's fairly clear the Sox have seen him as a dead man walking for at least a couple weeks now. I don't think he survives the upcoming returns of Hays and soon thereafter, Pereira. I might lean towards just cutting Grichuk when Hays comes back but that will only delay the inevitable with regard to Acuna if the rest of the current squad stays healthy.

The problem with expecting returning OFs to replace Acuna is that Acuna can play short.

Right now the backup 1B is the starting 3B, the backup 2B is the starting LF, and the backup 3B is the starting SS. Without Acuna, the backup SS is the starting 2B, and that leaves you pretty shallow. Just look at the maneuvering required tonight after a couple subs.

If you want someone to knock Acuna off the roster, it'll probably need to be someone who can play in the IF.

I think the progression of our bullpen pitchers after Kay should be instructive as to which pitchers are reliable in key late innings. Dominguez may well have blown this very important win. We are all happy he wasn't part of this.

key double steal.

if it wasn’t for that we lose 0 - 1 because both of those hits were otherwise double play balls.

Miguel's probably getting the day off tomorrow. His hand might be the size of an orange tonight.

PCA is a lot like Carlos Gomez. He'll screw up routine plays, but he also gets to balls that nobody else can.

Caleb Bonemer, Jacob Gonzales

Will proving his worth that inning in comparison to Wilson's incompetence.

Bonemer is in A ball. Please don't rush him. Gonzales needs to get a look later this year.

I think the ability to play SS is a plus for Acuna but not something that is going to keep his spot on the roster. You're two deep all over the place and in the worst case, even Antonacci could play a competent-enough SS for a game (or part of one) if something extraordinary happened. I think maybe you could end up with more outfielders than you need, but ultimately they might just start looking at Jacob Gonzalez, Rikuu Nishida, etc. rather than continuing to turn to Acuna. Bright side is his chances of passing through waivers are only increasing and he's a player who could realistically really benefit from some time in AAA — especially the joke of a stadium Charlotte plays in where you are massively incentivized to learn how to loft the ball a little bit.

Don’t we have some guy in AAA who is finally showing out like a boss after being a former first round dud? 🤔🤣

There was probably good reasons for all that. Those teams never had…je ne sais quoi

My darling!! You spoke French!! [smooch, smooch]

By the way, at some point we may have to have an uncomfortable conversation about Nishida posting an .886 OPS in AAA

Tell Chick to get that Flubs s%*# out of here.

He badly needs to work on his approach. His hitting tools aren't unsalvageable. League average bat speed and exit velo.

Is Bergolla still hurt ?I know he's got no power but that little dude sprays tbe ball all over and doesnt K., plays SS and he can run too.

He's Acuna with a hit tool and doesnt play CF.

I think the thing to do is just wait until super 2 passes in two weeks or so and then you call up Montgomery and Gonzo, DFA Kelenic, option Acuna, and then Montgomery is emergency CF and Gonzo is backup SS. It will suck to call up Gonzo and have him not get many PA but f*** it if we keep on this pace we need all hands on deck for a playoff run, development will come 2nd for guys like that.

I think he’s on the verge of an ACL rehab stint.

Venable said he used Taylor because he was already warmed up.

I hope the X-rays are negative on Vargas hand. He can't be replaced,

No "Tarps off" at Sox park. Please.

It was a little funny the first time with the Cardinals. Now it's getting out of hand.

That’s my leadoff guy with Sam hitting second.

That's my 9 hitter!

I'm a big Rikuu fan because I love a weird little guy but I don't know if his game will translate whatsoever. Don't know if they can simply bring the outfield in to take away the dink and dunk game. Don't know if his defense will grade out well, especially if they try him in the outfield. But I want to see it work out, somehow some way!
