yea i bet they try and use him at the deadline in a deal and if a home isn't found he'll just be waived, maybe someone will attempt a move for him then and we get some cash or a lotto ticket.

Why Hays and not Periera as trade bait. When the Sox got him, I remember reading on this forum that the reason the Yankees gave up on Periera was that he was injury prone.

I’m there. Yes, I get that Hays is also brittle, but how many times has Periera gone on the IL this year already? At least 3, is it 4? Let’s go with Hays and move on from Periera.

This is not a strong opinion from me, really it could be either one or both; I just have a little more faith in Hays, just a little.

Hays is 31 and expiring, Pereira is 25 and a rookie. The injuries have sucked, but not enough to not bet on the youth and team control if they are otherwise comparable.

They've also been acute "playing hard" injuries (cleat caught in the wall padding, concussion on a tough catch) rather than the soft tissue stuff that can become recurrent like Hays' hammy/calf.

Pereira playing all 3 OF spots also makes him less redundant with Grichuk than Hays would be.

Hagan Smith was promoted to Triple A Charlotte. Let's see if he can stay healthy.

Hagan Smith 1 inning, 1h, 1er, 3bb, 2ks

Hays (LF) and Pereira (DH) both in the lineup for Charlotte today

Hopefully they didn't run into each other.

Kyle Teel, I apologize for any curse I put on you due to my posting the day you got hurt. Please let whatever this injury is end up being far less significant and you are back crushing it before we know it.

best thoughts going your way

I hate to do this Jason - but if it turns out to be significant, you're going to have to turn over your moderating privileges to me as a way to "repent" for cursing Teel.

Who becomes a productive reliable catcher first, this guy, or Teel?

Oh the horror

In the post game Chuck reiterated that it is being reported as an ankle injury. More updates to come…

Again "left ankle" and "likely" a Teel IL trip pending scans in the morning. Feels like an Achilles would be more definitive.

Colson "feels good" so sounds like nothing more than a day or two there

Our thoughts are with Kyle Teel as he faces this next challenge. He was part of a great young team with unlimited expectations and now he isn't.

He was part of the team hitting a buck ninety. We might be upgrading, or holding serve here.
