I think modern thinking is your best hitters bat 2nd & 4th

doesn't explain AB batting 3rd 😂

And one of your worst hits 3rd?

Gonzalez at first base, wouldn’t it be something if he continues his homer hitting season and eases the loss of MM.

That would be cool

I guess so. Just sucks to see a dude most here want DFA’d weeks/months ago hitting 3rd.

He said batting ahead of Colson was unreal…my point is modern thinking is to bat the better hitter 4th rather than 3rd. I never suggested Benintendi should bat 3rd. However, who do you guys feel should bat in that spot instead of him?

FWIW, here is how today’s lineup is faring against RHP this year (wRC+):

  1. Antonacci, LF = 140

  2. Vargas, 3B = 98

  3. Benintendi, DH = 91

  4. Montgomery, SS = 121

  5. Meidroth, 2B = 83

  6. Gonzalez, 1B = 1.160 OPS in AAA

  7. Peters, CF = 123

  8. Romo, CA = 116

  9. Rikuu, RF = -4

Idk I think I’d still hit Colson ahead of him

I’m OK with him batting 3rd, he is 4th on the team in RBIs and always heats up with the weather and still believe he will be an asset if we are in the race to the end.

Plus 10D hit a 2B and HR yesterday so maybe it carries over while he's feeling good.

Colson has an ISO well north of .200 and is basically a pure power hitter with below average hit tool so regardless of who is third, he should be batting fourth based on his skill set.

I agree that Beni shouldnt be third, tho.

Benintendi has been very good over the past two weeks against RHP. Look, I certainly don’t love it, but it’s not like we have a plethora of good options. I’d rather see him in the #3 spot vs. Romo, Peters, Meidroth, Gonzalez, & Rikuu, which effectively leaves no other choice. I’d also rather have him bat in front of Colson and have a little bit of protection than the opposite.

Then who though?

i think he's gonna pop off here, at least at first

I was doing some research on Japanese good luck objects now that Murakami is on the bench. So I found an article https://japan-avenue.com/blogs/japan/japanese-good-luck-charm?srsltid=AfmBOoqGQ58oWuvpeDZYVIlklkjNZe_CgCVTVGc6xypepwzSU3ZgoCa6

After perusing them one finally caught my eye , Inu Hariko, the loyal dog figurine who watches over the family. Murakami's good buddy Vargas often brings barking into the dugout and clubhouse and the Sox also promote Dog Days. They are cute like a lot of anime stuff is cute. Would be cool to see a few of them hanging in the dugout or clubhouse. Let's go Boyer you need more than bidets to make Muni feel at home here in Chicago.

Also for the cat lovers among us there is Maneki Neko, also a cute anime looking figurine.

The Rate is a launching pad too. Maybe not to the extend that Charlotte's park is but I hope he feels at home very quickly !
