We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Yeah, technically Sosa…who had zero value as it played out, or Hays/Pereira, would have been ahead of Mead…I guess.

Acuna as well.

Certainly Benintendi’s $30 million remaining.

potential trade chip out for even longer now, rough season after such a hot start.

That sucks.

This sucks more.

"Mead, meanwhile, has a line of .254/.352/.500. The Nationals' new brain trust, led by former Red Sox executive Paul Toboni, acquired him from the Chicago White Sox last offseason and watched him flourish after three years of mediocre hitting, and have now flipped him for a legitimate talent in Early."

No other players or $$$/international pool/picks involved.

Sure, 3 days ago from rational logic...

You can go back a month. It was never rational. Only in your own twisted mind maybe. You didn’t predict s%*#.

So if you can't win anything in the postseason even with Miller, King and a catcher...then just do nothing?

Sounds like that equally twisted stick head in sand plan will certainly satisfy Sox fans lol.

We can just be like Baltimore minus the two 0-5 playoff appearances, keep payroll in the bottom 2-3 and hoard prospects.

Or we can criticize SD for swinging those big headline talent trades with nothing to show for it despite 4/6 playoff appearances and one humbling NLCS loss (50% due to Clevinger.)

Early for Mead by definition isn't exactly rational either...not for prospect lovers.

A lot of bickering in here…feel like we should be focused on rumors in this thread.

I’m still kinda shocked at the Merkin piece yesterday on Mason Miller. Makes me think they’re actually exploring some bigger trades since he doesn’t go out on a limb much and is pretty tethered to the team.

Would remind people that it didn't stop the Cubs for trading for Nick Madrigal.

Mead plays 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, I will take what we have at those positions. I guess he could have been the UT or R/ DH. Mead wasn't going to get the playing time here and his departure has led to very positive things.

The Sox didn't have an established a LF, CF, or RF in the preseason. Sam was given a chance to learn on the fly in LF because Benny was a defensive liability. Peters in CF made the All-Star team, and Montgomery is finally the answer to a long-time hole in RF. Benny getting moved to DH and now sharing the role with Grick has been working. Grick can also play the outfield.

Well that's lame.

Good opening stance. And glad to see we are flashing our financial strength, which should give us an advantage. There will be teams who will struggle to take on payroll and others who will need to navigate luxury tax concerns.

Assuming the Top 10 doesn't include the draft guys, it's one thing to not trade Bonemer or Carlson, it's another to hold onto Lodise or Mogollon.

I assume it’s including recent draftees. The back end of our top 10 excluding them should all be in play for upgrades.

Brewers Designate Lance McCullers Jr. For Assignment

McCullers was acquired from the Astros in a trade on July 15. MLBTR breaks down his recent performance and potential future.

He has been atrocious this year and his Baseball Savant page backs that up, but he does have an xERA of 4.57 and can still strike people out. Worth a shot as a long man maybe?

#10: Seattle Mariners. It seems like nobody wants to win the AL West, and the Mariners are one of those "Nobodies".

#9: Texas Rangers. The Rangers are the other "Nobody" team in the Wild West Race. They currently sit on top of that heap with an even .500 record.

#8: Chicago Cubs. They still sit in the top Wild Card in the National League. The bats and gloves are good enough to win some postseason games, but who will pitch?

#7: Chicago White Sox. This season has been a ton of fun on the South Side. Will they make a move to keep it going? Imagine Tarik Skubal on this team. Now wake up, that's not happening.

The Padres Must Trade Mason Miller Before the Deadline

Colson for Miller .. Do it.

This is a good point. The Sox don't have to use Bonemer or Carlson to upgrade their starting pitching.

Is there another Colson in our org that I'm unaware of?
