We have no excuse not to buy a top-end SP in free agency this offseason. As such, I’d rather keep Bonemer and go with a cheaper SP at the deadline. I truly believe we should not be doing “all-in” trad

Trevor Bauer is an awful clubhouse fit even if you believe him innocent of any criminal wrongdoing. I also don’t understand why anyone would think a 35 year old pitching in the Nippon League or where

Seeing it tonight in IMAX!

If they really end up trading for a catcher, two starting pitchers, and a right handed bat then we will be winning this fucking division.

We also will be going to the fucking ALCS ( at least ) and I am here for it.

I think they’ll get one rental arm and another SP with control along with a RH bat with a bloated contract.

Imagine that being aggressive like this and going deep into the playoffs would go a long way toward Mune being extended.

This deadline is going to be very interesting.

Yea, that’s what I was speaking to

Yep, I get the impression they’re fine adding salary for this year but absolutely not for next year. I’m sure Jerry is one of the owners who doesn’t think they will play in 2027.

Then they don’t have to pay the player. Not sure why people think taking on money next year is a problem.

It’s more they don’t know what salary structure will look like after the next CBA is signed, and they don’t want to get stuck with a bad contract

Plenty of rentals they can add

Singer and Stephenson….seems like it would be a hefty price. No way do you give up Bonemer, Carlson or Hagen in that.

Rentals of this ilk don’t command top 100 or close to that level of prospect. Just look at the last few deadlines…teams are way smarter now. I also truly believe Bonemer is untouchable.

I kind of think we see two major trades now. The first one for Detmers and built around Carlson. A second trade for Singer & Stephenson that is quantity over quality.

I think Detmers goes to Cubs

Do the Cubs really want to overpay for control at the deadline?

Yes, and they can use Shaw or Ramirez

He's one of the six owners on the committee advising Manfred on the labor situation. I suspect he wants his salary cap before he rides off into the sun set. You know that is a non-starter with the MLBPA so you could be right.

Singer has an ERA of 4.5, FIP of 5.21 and a WHIP of 1.38. His K rate has been falling. Doesn't really throw a FB. Is he even an upgrade?

Don't give up Bonemer, Carlson or Hagen for any of these guys; nobody else does. We didn't get anything in that stratosphere for Cease who was better than everyone mentioned.

It wouldn’t take any of those guys to get Singer. No one is saying that.

It shouldn't take any of those guys to get anyone attainable who has been mentioned; that's what I was saying.

This makes sense. I'd be fine with it. I think Singer is a perfect adequate number 5.

It just sucks because the Langeliers injury probably takes Heim off the market

Torrens for catcher was always the most likely play IMO.

I think they want a defense first guy and know it will also all but guarantee a bump on the offensive side as well.

Mets have a lot more to worry about than their beloved backup catcher.

But Cease different as an off season trade coming off the disappointing 2023 results...made late in ST, March 14th, 2024.

Sox were in salary cutting mode already, except for Robert, Jr.

Dylan Cease was traded from the Chicago White Sox to the San Diego Padres. The Padres acquired Cease in exchange for three of their Top 10 prospects and righty reliever Steven Wilson. Cease, who was under club control through 2025, was a key player for the Padres, contributing to their rotation and performance. His move to the Padres was part of a strategic trade to bolster the team's pitching staff and address the need for rotation stability.
