They won today, but having Braden Montgomery bunt at any time is fireable in my opinion. I don’t understand how taking the bat out of his hands is going to help his development. I also don’t understand Venable’s obsession with bunting.

It’s gotten to a point where Getz should step in and say enough.

Venable seems to have the managerial stuff down after and before a game, Venable the in game manager needs a lot of work and needs to get better

Well, at the half-way point, he has the team playing 10 games better than anybody expected them to be. I think he'll get better, but I think he's doing fine, as it is.

Venable frustrates me so damn much.

The bunting, bringing the infield in too much too soon, the bunting, bizarre bullpen decisions, the bunting, head scratching bullpen decision, the bunting....he is a bad in game manager in my opinion.

But the team is playing their ass off for 9 innings (or more) every damn night. So just like Rickie's team the last time the Sox were good....just let it roll. Just let it roll.

Hopefully Venable will get better at the X and Os. The team is certainly playing very hard every night and that is more important than the X and Os. Even w/ the bizarre love affair w/ bunting. I hate all the bunting.

That Junior Perez pinch hit move for Tristan Peters was epically terrible. Venable should reflect on that stupid ass move for awhile.

Yea, I get it… I also understand that sometimes Will tends to put bench players into a game to try keeping them fresh.

With nobody out and the bases loaded, it’s as good a time as any to try and put a young kid in with a chance of boosting their confidence.

The Braden bunt was a great call. At this point, he’s not a good righty hitter. Also, Colson wasn’t going to score on a single at that point.

Agreed. Most of us hate bunting but that’s cuz it’s a low percentage play. Braden laid down that bunt to perfection. I have no problem with good bunters bunting. I just hope Venable doesn’t force weak bunters to bunt depending on the situation.

Venable is still learning on the job and hopefully he learns from his mistakes, that being said, the bunt was the right call in that situation.

I’ve generally been a Venable defender outside of the bunting, but that pinch hit decision was perplexing. We just needed to put the ball in play and decided to pinch hit with a guy who was striking out 35% of the time in AAA. And there was no doubt the Royals would bring in a RHP to face him. I would have just left Peters in there.

I have to wonder, did he announce the pinch hitter before they took out Lynch or after? Because if it's after, it makes no sense. If it's before, then whatever.

What a time on the South Side of Chicago. Just a year ago, the White Sox lost 102 games. Now, they enter the second half in first place in the AL Central, they have the second-best run differential in the American League, and the vibes couldn’t be better for this franchise on the rise.

If he likes the bunt that can be a postseason killer, playing for one run here and there rather than letting Muni, Vargas, Colson, Beni, etc do some lifting and pulling.

I gave him a B for managing. I do believe there are definitely better managers in the league for in game decisions. However, I give him an A+ for establishing teamwork and maximum effort. I don't think I've ever seen a White Sox team in my lifetime that runs hard to first base on every ball hits or makes an effort to move a runner from 2nd to 3rd with no outs so strongly. Little things win games and its activities like this that have us outperforming the expectations of most people.
