06/24 - Sox vs. Guards: Sweep the Leg

Meidroth is going nowhere people. This is a really valuable player. He's on a tough streak but these are the players that championships are made of. In baseball, "average" does not mean "cheap and easy to find".

With the middle infielders we have in the org, he's going to be gone. Antonacci is obviously a much better option at 2B. When Baldwin returns next season, you think Chase will be starting? No chance. Best case he is a bench bat.

I say this over and over. I don’t give a s%*# who the announcers are. If the Sox win that day, whoever it was were the best announcers in the world.

Not when you look at what’s coming in the pipeline.

This game had so many great moments but it hurt.

Didn’t look like it. Game should have already been over by then. Daggummit.

Braden hits a ton of grounders at high speeds that aren’t usually hits

Stop fvking bunting. Ghost on second no outs. Why give up an out? Why?

It was Acuña, he's terrible

Will Baldwin be starting?

Peters and Meidroth need to swap order positions for a while.

We'll see if Baldwin can beat him out.

More speed and power, but defense was a mess last year.

Baldwin lf/Antonacci 2B or keeping things status quo for 2027?

Easy to see why Meidroth swung at the first one. He was looking to get the ball in the air and knew with a sinkerballer on the mound you better take advantage of anything high. It was (barely) a strike but he clearly wasn't ready for how much it ran in on him so he barely got enough of it for it to carry out of play. Then 3-1 it's lower and again the sinker does its thing and bores in on him. In hindsight, should have been taking on anything inside from Armstrong given Chase's and Armstrong's tendencies. He probably just didn't think it was going to be inside. Of course, if he hit it 5 feet left or right they're probably still playing.

Taylor failed again.

Venable absolutely must get Meidroth out of he middle of the order. He is not an RBI guy. I’d play Grichuk vs both lefties and righties and put him 5th.

As much a chance as anyone.

Still have Pereira but he's so injury prone to count on at this point.

Baldwin has a lot of work to do to keep up with Meidroth or even make the team next year. Brooks has no defensive position, Meidroth is a glove-first player who is likely to out-hit Brooks.

Every time a player has a slump fans get on their sh1t.

Can't really fault him. In a normal inning, those hits don't matter.

Is he so far off the plate it’s causing him to dive too much?

Optimistic about prospects? I thought you knew better than that!

If feels like 90% of Sox players can man 2b including Antonacci, Baldwin, Nishida, Gonzalez, Bergolla, and probably Roch Cholowsky. So that isn’t an issue. But Meidroth has been pretty good for them. This is just one bad game.

I feel like Shomon has got him in a pretty weird state where he's getting a little bit of power production that he didn't have last year but it has his whole approach teetering on disaster. The overall numbers are basically okay but as you are seeing aesthetically it's a lot less steady than the guy we saw last year.

If Roch isn’t at least a MLB starter, I give up

Baldwin still has a lot to prove as much as I like him. Has to prove he can play defense and has to prove he can still be the hitter he was in the 2nd half of 2025. This was supposed to be his year to do that but alas.

I wouldn’t go that far. Even Will Venable thought Baldwin was poised for a big year before he got hurt. Kid can hit.

I wanted a rain-out.

I know they took the series and that is worth noting but to me this one hurt again like Sunday.

After that 9th inning they had momentum then in the 10th, bases loaded, one out and you can't get the guy home from third?

Fundamentals, pure fundamentals.

God I hate the friggin' Manfred rule with a passion.

Get the day off and see what they can do against a K.C. team that is (or was) missing some key players.

They should have swept these bastards today.

The Sox pants their Closer in this series.
