Your first place Chicago White Sox are 42-38. They have surpassed 2024's win total just before the halfway point of 2026 After going 4-22 vs. KC over the previous two seasons, they are now 6-2 with a

GOOD. I want to see these dudes go at it. Throw some haymakers. Keep stoking that fire!

I’d like to see someone on the Sox beat up Sal Perez and make Caulfield cry

Do you some of you just not remember the beat downs the Sox got the last few years? Who cares about hurt feelings for the ROYALS.

Joel Goldberg from the KC commentary team said he was going up the elevator and ran into Reinsdorf and that he said the Sox most probably lose tomorrow 2-1 lol

Reinsdorf sounds like some guys here on Soxtalk.

This unwritten rule s%*# that comes with professional sports is so stupid. Like should Venable actively tell players to tank their stats so the Royals don’t get some hurt feelings? I guarantee the guys loved Venable for challenging that horrific double play call last night.

Venable challenged a call when we had 19 runs instead of letting it be. It was pretty ridiculous. One of our guys is getting beaned tomorrow for that s%*#. Thanks Will.

On the TV broadcast, Stoney addressed this directly by saying that Venable challenged the call to reward Vargas's hustle down the line and nothing more. He even said that those watching may be wondering why challenge but that when the team is playing so hard even when the outcome is almost certain that the manager has to reward that kind of behavior.

I’m half and half on it. Sometimes you think about s%*# the other team did and yea let’s rub it in. Last night just felt unnecessary in the scheme of the game

Also step on their necks and be ruthless. Be like the 05 white Sox who were killers

I had wondered about that aspect. The 21st run wasn't needed, but why not help Vargas get credit for a hit instead of a ground out?

I was out last night so I just watched the highlights. That was fun! Jacob Gonzalez looked like he had some good at bats which is exactly what we needed out of him.

Chase bouncing back is good too.

I had to look this up to verify, and yes, Nightengale's correct, here:

Screen grab from last night's game. Interesting that the last time the Sox scored 22 runs was the season they lost 106 games!

Also note that of these top 5 run-scoring games, 2 were against Kansas City, 2 were against Boston, and two were against the A's. That 29 runs in 1955 looks like it was maybe the A's sixth home game after moving to Kansas City.

fwiw royals broadcast had no problem with it either. RBI is used in arb cases, if he hadn't challenged I'd be pissed at Will.

Yeah, and as I just posted in the other thread - Venable was right. It wasn't even a tie between Vargas's foot and the ball going into the mitt. It's not like he tried to challenge the call when Vargas as clearly out or where the umps had to look at umpteen different angles to figure out the right call.

Fans paid good money to see the best the players have to offer...not just go through the motions of finishing a lopsided game.
