I don't see any point in buying in any serious way. This is a developmental year and you don't know your long-term holes, if any. If there's a long-term piece out there, sure check it out. If there's some marginal moves to be made, take a look. Especially if you can improve the big league club at only the cost of money.

Detmers yes, Sonny Gray…hell no

I do buy it, I think Nevin and others like Emerson more.

What the hell do I know I suppose. I'm not a scout and don't watch them. Maybe they really do think Emerson has that much more potential then Roch. Roch just seems like close to a sure thing with top tier defense. Seems like a really safe pick.

Every game in Cleveland feels like this I swear

Having one of the highest rated defensive players flat out cost you 3 games in about 10 days is crazy

And Taylor/Dominguez...along with some terrible base running and lack of defensive execution.

Offense will just scuffle minus Colson Teel and Mune firing on all cylinders.

This Cleveland team reminds me a bit of the 2000s Twins (had a little more power), they suck ass hard, they know how to beat us but won't do s%*# in the postseason when other teams expose them for the frauds they are. Unfortunately we can't though.

Detmers is a trap unless you're just giving them some fodder. Of course the Angels might be prone to getting fleeced so I'd give them a call and see what's up. May I interest you in this shiny Billy Carlson?

Okay, f*** right off boys.

Why is he a trap?

Maybe he’s now only an opener…

And 1-2 walks right off the bat just surrender an early lead? No thanks.

Acuna vacated SS position which allowed that hit in the 10th.

Regression candidate?

His peripherals overall are good, but other (deep pocketed) contending teams should be willing to offer more.

Like the Dodgers if they're unwilling to pay up for Skubal.

I think Venable, Getz and JR are done with Seranthony. His contract is lost money. Nothing they can do about it.

Chuck and Ozzie ripping Venable a bit for calling for the hit and run with Antonacci and 3rd, as opposed to just waiting to see what happens to the ball after contact to run home.

Just got back from some pre 4th of July activities.

Saw the score, looked at the box score.

Make that nine straight losses in Cleveland dating back to 2024.

7th time this year the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game.

Dominguez is completely useless it appears regardless of the situation or inning.

Getz (assuming he gets the OK) needs to somehow improve the pitching staff sooner rather than later or it may not matter if he waits for the deadline.

They still have two chances to do something positive.

Maybe we'll have something to celebrate Saturday over and above the holiday.

Oh s%*#

Cleveland manager Vogt said the quiet part out loud, he asked the reporters why are they surprised, that they own our souls and dogwalking us is par for the course...damn.

Nah, but I wouldn't blame him if he did say it.

We lost an entire series to Detroit like this. Now we're well on our way to losing this one. Unless we're clearly superior, these teams have owned us the last decade.
Too many Ks at the wrong time.

Venable over-managing.
Among other issues.

Well to be fair, I regard almost any starting pitcher whose value is tied to his longevity (Detmers with several years of team control) as something of a trap. Throwing resources at starting pitching is very much a win-now move even if what you're technically paying for is long-term upside; it's just very hard to forecast what you're getting from a pitcher in the long run because the health is so volatile. Detmers has already shown a lot of volatility in his past which is why he has surprisingly little service time given how long he's been around MLB. So if Detmers was in my organization I'd be excited to see what he can do and would expect him to pitch well for the foreseeable future. But I would not like the Sox trading premium talent to get him here when there's so much risk that you ultimately don't get much out of him. If the Angels want to try their luck with Christian Oppor or something, be my guest!

Liked what I heard from Vargas post-game. Basically: that's baseball, we don't like to lose but we think we should be winning games like this and probably will next time.

Honestly of all the things going on, I tend to not want to make a mountain out of a molehill. For instance, I don't think Colson's defensive miscues are very meaningful in the sense that I'm not very worried about them continuing to happen. But I gotta say, I am very confused about the guys getting picked off. It's several different players, all of whom are otherwise pretty heady/smart players even if aggressive. Makes me think there's something going on at the coaching/organizational level that is getting them into trouble on the basepaths. If the team was generating a lot of stolen bases, then I'd shrug it off as the cost of doing business. But IDK what they are doing to keep getting caught on the wrong foot out there.

Just saw this stat:

Sox relief pitchers have now given up 113 runs on the road this season, the most in MLB.

You can't just sit around waiting for Murakami...but Teel will need at least one hundred at-bats to recapture his timing and they just don't have enough prospect capital to outbid other teams looling for a closer right now.

If bringing in Murakami means taking Gonzalez bat out of the lineup, not a huge bunch of upside with that move

He has looked tired to me. All star break hopefully helps him reset.

It's called knowing baseball fundamentals which literally for years has been an unknown word to this organization despite talk seemingly every spring about how they are working on these things.

bad baserunning has always been a Sox trademark

Even if we need to overpay, we need to go get bullpen help now. Can't wait til the deadline.

Don’t overpay in 2026

Rock, Davitt, Sandlin all unavailable arms on the 40.

Schweitzer can maybe go, but he was optioned too recently to be recalled without an injury.

Tyler Davis last pitched 7/1 (31 pitches).

The rain delay cutting short a good Kay outing really stings after Martin's struggles yesterday.
