First place at the break and Noah showing he can turn the corner by going 5 and giving us no walks!

Very nice series and good job Noah,.Braden, Psycho Sam and Hicks.

First place at the break and nice sweep.

After the recent play, is the smart move to buy instead of sell?

Dorks who wanted to sell at the deadline are ridiculous.

Great series. Vibes are good going into the break.

Nice win and series as the Sox went 24-2 against the A’s in runs scored. They have a little streak and it bothers me that we now have the break, hopefully they can go .500 at Toronto and Texas then come home and build on the 5 games over .500.

You can make a case that the one trade we've made this month is a "sell" trade.

That's the way to reestablish some momentum.

Outside of the errors a well played series.

Only downer they couldn't gain any distance on Cleveland and Minnesota won I think their 11th series in a row. That's absolutely mind blowing. At least Detroit lost twice this weekend.

At the break, your Chicago White Sox have spent more time at or above .500 than under it this season.

On May 13th, they reached .500 for the first time after 42 games. They have not been below since (they were exactly .500 again twice at 26-26 and 27-27, but never under).

They bottomed out at 7 under (6-13) on April 16th. Since April 17th, they are 44-32 (~94 win pace), 5th in MLB and 2nd in the AL. Only the Brewers, Dodgers, Rays, and Phillies have been better.

Coincidentally, that stretch started with a series win vs. the A’s on the road and runs through this sweep vs. them at home (and both times the Sox had been swept by an AL East team at home in the previous series).

Some benchmarks for the second half:

  • 11-56 to exceed last season's win total

  • 20-47 for 70 wins

  • 31-36 for a .500 season

  • 37-30 for 87 wins, the cutoff for the playoffs in last year's (stronger) AL

32 wins for an actual winning season. That would be remarkable.

Nah its a smart trade. Sox last had the #1 pick in 1977 and now MLB wants to take HS players out of the draft. This could've been the Sox last opportunity in a long time to enhance the team of the near future and secure a more distant future . Not very many teams are committed to selling yet . Not sure there will be that many bargains out there. Also the Sox are not getting any immediate help from the international signing period at all . That is still a work in progress.

It's not like JR still isn't the owner. Getz likes to say we aren't rebuilding we are building. I think that is as true as it ever was. People think Gonzalez was a bigger chip than he is. Could be true but a decision had to be made on using him to get more draft capital and players for the present and future or waiting around to see who will outbid you on the premium talent that does end up available.

Gonzalez was going back to the minors and had no chance of increasing his value any more by playing in Charlotte. As much as I liked his contributions while Mune was gone I doubt many GM's thought of him as a premium piece . It's just as lot of wishful thinking hoping our team can make a big playoff run. But securing the foundation for the Ishbia years and a future new stadium is still top priority.

This year can stand on it's own as a year to be proud of without selling out the future for temporary help.
