Yes, they called him up on June 20th. They cut him and resigned him to another minor league contract. This time, they likely cut him from his minor league deal to get a shot with another team.

If it makes Red Sox fans feel any better, they basically traded Early and Perales for Mead and Bennett. Mead won't be of any use this year, but he's controllable for a long time.
